I believe the core of the game should be centered around playing with old friends and making new ones!
I plan to only play with a few friends that I know in real life; but if they want to join a clan I probably will.
I hope Eternal Crusade spreads the magnificent world of Warhammer 40000, just remember one MMO has already spawned YOGS. I hope it will never happen again. Just want to remind what is more valuable to you clan allegiance or love of your family? Play the game, just know the limit.
yeah but the eldar and chaos can't do an exterminatus and I was planning on playing those two races..... woops spelt eldar wrong, now that I have dishonoured my family I will have to go and perform hara-kiri.
You have probably never played a game like this before. All the players I met in PS2 were either in a clan or were looking for one because they came to the conclusion that "this game can't be played alone". I'm sure that in time you will come to the same conclusion (after EC comes out).
If the game will be something like Space Marine I suppose a ten-men squad will be required to qualitatively play a Tyranid purge mission or execute a leader, or find & deliver the technology/resources. As you understand I have never played online games, still I hope something like a "5th Company" or a "Feral Orks" clan will be available to join a random strike group. To mention friend groups, well, I suppose everyone will invite their friends by that time. What concerns me about big clans is that there every action will be scheduled on the scale of the level, there will have to be mentors of higher level, because you just will not send a group of Adeptus Astartes Scouts to attack a Chaos temple instead of a properly equipped and skilled Tactical Marines.
A lot of people are hoping for open dungeons that you can wander in and out of freely (if you can survive), not instanced dungeons where the game spawns an instance for your squad and you are the only people in there until you leave or complete your mission. There should be dungeons with open, contested objectives, where multiple squads from different factions are fighting for it, some single squads, some full raid forces and the lone wolves with the balls to run around dodging hails of bullets through the ongoing fire fights. I prefer the old style EQ raids in PvP areas where a small group could get a raid drop because the raiding enemy faction was almost wiped by the boss and you had enough strength to finish them off. As they say all's fair in love and war, you did of course have to suck up the vengeance that the raid dished out on you and your guild once they had recovered, but that was all part of the fun and inter-Guild warfare.
