will the tau have a bunch of xenos to help them

  1. What I mean is it would be cool to have extra aliens In game for the tau empire to match playstyles. The tau are my second favorite faction but I prefer melee fighting could we add more to the troop choices in this game like for instance big slow turtle men as an equivalent to terminators or other xenos we haven't seen on the TT.

    Tau isn't Tau without Kroot to do their melee fighting for them.

    Or Vespids. Or even humans.

    Don't just add things for balance all the time. It's cool that you prefer melee ,but the tau are most definitely not a melee friendly army. Forcing random balance into a faction just wouldn't feel very warhammer like. Especially since that same balance would most likely weaken the firepower they have compared to what they have in the books.
  4. What I'm hopeing for is to see minor xeno speices in game. I just would like to see what could be thought up.

    Tau= long range and heavy weapon + stealth
    Kroot=meele
    Vespid=assault
    And maybe Farsight as a faction option

    Crisis battlesuits would be a good terminator type slot holder. But they would function more as a high mobility range dmg and suppresion force not so much a juggernaut type deal.

    having the extra xeno races in the Tau faction does create a few small animation modeling problems though

    consider this...
    • inside every character there is a skeleton/naked body ... this body is "rigged" which allows the character to move in a "realistic" fashion
    • armour and equipment are then "hung" on these "rigged" bodies and tested for clipping
    • currently the factions ingame (LSM/CSM) use the same "rigged" body for all the classes ... this means less work for the modellers and animation department
    using the extra xenos though would mean that the Tau would need different "rigged bodies" for each class (if xenos are used to fill class roles)

    so your asking for a faction that would take 3-4 times the amount of modeling and animation then the current factions require

    (so for the same amount of work to have Tau we could have 2-3 other factions that have a homogenous racial composition ... 1 race in the faction)

    and thats not considering the required creation of a "pet mechanic" for drones, or the usage of cover by a faction comprised of various sized individuals
