hmm maybe we can fix the spread population problem with a change of map design that the map is long and not to wide so the combats are more focused and with more players
Population is already a problem, instead of fixing it it shouldn't matter. Best way for it to not matter is for every faction to have chances of winning their own campaign at any given state of popularity. EDIT: Map design is cool too!
I've been thinking about the classes for Guard and here's what I have: Ogryn: The IG tank character, carries heavy melee and what would normally be crew served weapons (Heavy Bolter, Autocannon, Lascannon, etc.) High HP, low weapon accuracy and speed. Veteran/Stormtrooper: Beefed up Guardsman. High ranged weapon skill and proficiency with Special Weapons (Melta, Plasma, Flamer, etc.). Standard setup with Hellgun and Carapace armor. Ratling: Infiltrator, rogue/sniper class. Low HP, but cloak ability similar to the PS2 Infiltrator. Carries Sniper rifle but has access to weapons like a needle rifle, silenced weapons, and autoguns. Commissar: High CC proficiency. Access to power weapons and best armor. Provides AOE buff. Possible execution ability? Enginseer: Access to nasty Mechanicum stuff. Able to buff vehicles. I think the possibilities for the IG are endless, I can't wait to see what the team does with them.
I think they should add factions as they see fit by how many players are currently playing the game. If there is enough there and enough coming in to throw in another faction, I say why not? I think it would be cool during release with an Imperial Guard update, where while at war (well, not while at war, like, after the game is updated x.x), a little while after the update, if you are in the right area, Imperial Guard ships start pouring out of the sky and landing, unloading a crap load of guardsmen and other Imperial Guard troops, blasting their way into a few territories to secure it, then begin their campaign for Arkonah. Be a neat thing to witness, kinda a one time occurrence that can be witnessed by many or few, making it seem so alive. I think that would be a cool and unique way of introducing a new faction into the fold without just giving them a spot and some guns.
Exactly what I was thinking for IG- The tactical class would have to be a Storm Trooper or Kasrkin. And the Ogryn as the heavy devastator class. The classic IG guardsmen would be NPCs who defend your bases once captured. I would additionally like to see Catachan Devils as the assault class- Close combat shotguns, chainswords and all that good stuff. Hoping there are jungle maps, they could have the ability to camoflauge and hunt nids like rambo. They could have a priest as their support like in DoW Winter Assault- And have a special giant chainsaw to purchase in the rogue trader store! *Commissar as a hero though, with a Xeno Claw or Powerfist, And a Veteran Catachan or equivalent IG unit as an elite class
commissars are not at all hero class. basic class material, veteran catachan is basic class material. they are going up against space marines, exarch warriors, and massive orks verging on nob status at the smallest. they dont compare unless you make the IG elites basics. elite classes for them would be ogryns, due to being stronger than average nobs and space marines, MAYBE ratlings, due to rarity and the fact that they can be very potent regardless of how superhuman you are...unless your a daemon or have a force field or ridiculously good armor or regenerative ability...alpha level psyker would be an elite or a hero, commissar lord would be a hero, basics would be karsrkin/storm troopers, karsrkin would be instead of storm troopers for cadia,...sanctioned psykers, which would probably have all around better offensive psychic powers than warlocks, but would be basically unable to defend themselves..a veteran guardsmam (NOT STORMTROOPER) could be basically a regular guardsman, but veterans, and so have access to better gear, and a wider variety than storm troopers, also grav chutes possibly, things like the attillan rough riders could be a basic, or elite, not sure which, commissar would probably be a basic class, maybe an elite class, tech-priests could be either elite or basic, ministorum priests would be a must, along with everything else in this list, and could be basic or elite, and would probably wield eviscerators, and a medic class--although, as a way to balance out the fact that veteran guardsmen aren't quite on the level of aspect warriors/astartes, perhaps you could give THEM the abilities of a medic. it would make the guardsmen army very self sufficient, and make it possible for them to maintain defense/offense pressure for very long periods of time.
Just did a search. Here's the top 5 Imperial Guard threads. http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/imperial-guard.42831/ http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/imperial-guard.23244/ http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/imperial-guard-or-militarum-tempestus.7239/ http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/how-could-imperial-guard-be-implemented.3961/ http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/imperial-guard-faction.2234/ They cover this type of discussion, in some depth.
The developers have already expressed in one of their FAQs and also across the numerous IG threads that the IG will NOT BE IMPLEMENTED as of this time. They have no desire to make them due to their own balancing reasons and also because the game is still in Alpha/Beta. Play the game first when the Beta comes out or when it's finally released to know whether or not you would even be interested in playing it in the first place. Asking for a faction that will take several years to flesh out post launch is simply a dream.
We know this. We're just brainstorming ways that the IG could work as an individual faction in preparation for when they are added to EC.
