What I am curious is, could/should there be a specially designed user interface for each and every faction? Personally, I would like that to be feature because it gives more character to the different factions, and people new to 40k could identify the sort of personality each faction has. And to take it a step further, they could make it even more so unique if they made it chapter/clan/craftworld/warband based. Say if I was an Ultramarine, I would have ultramarine symbols on all over the different interfaces, and if I was say, Iron Warriors, I would have an interface void of all corruption and mutation, whereas other warbands tend to have a more corrupted nature. I know the devs' time is finite, but I would really like to see this implemented. But what do you guys think on this? (sorry if this has been posted before, but I just want to get this out)
I would want faction specific UI... I wouldn't want to play an ork and have Aquilas all over my screen and I wouldn't want there to be just a greymesh for a UI as well.
Yea, the devs already said that each faction will have a different UI and feel to them. Each faction should have a distinct UI (Source) Not sure about chapter/clan/craftworld/legion specific UI's.
I'm gonna try to go as far as sub-faction themes. It all depends how complex the UI will be - but I will sacrifice complexity over theme if it gets in the way of proper faction/sub-faction immersion. If this is alright with you guys that is.
as long as the ui has all the elements we need, im fine with you choosing theme over complexity. if it gets to the point where we feel like we are missing things from the ui then we would have a problem
hehehe - all the info will be there, no worries. I was more talking (well, writing) about visual complexity. Lots of textures, etc. A shorter list of assets means it is quicker to reskin per faction/sub-faction. I'm still evaluating different styles at the moment and will choose the one that is the best compromise between complexity and thematic immersion.
i couldnt say without a proper example, but i think ill go with the balanced hud. another nice way to make money for microtransactions though.
