Ya I must have read it somewhere - it's gnawing at me now - usually I'm pretty good about keeping my imagination separate from lore: it's definitely tagged as lore in my brain.

Somewhat semantic given that I got it right in my post further up - but yes sorry :)
  2. Necrontyr discovered the C'tan they did not create them, the did however take these space leeches they found draining plasma from stars and contacted them offering themselves in exchange for eternal life due to how frail and weak the Necrontyr were. Thus the Necrons were born.

  4. I don't know, the Necrontyr kind of come off as a bunch of angsty teenagers.

Though I'll admit they had one of the roughest deals being stuck on a planet that is incredibly irradiated and fills every criteria of the word "shit hole", and it kinda makes me feel bad for them in that respect. The sheer neglect from the Old Ones and seeing the Eldar just thriving and boning each other like rabbits would be incredibly infuriating to behold.

But exterminating all life in the Galaxy because grandpa is an asshole who forgot you existed and your neighbor currently holds daily orgies? I can understand the intense envy and hatred toward the two of them being completely oblivious, ignorant, and uncaring about your situation and overall existence. Killing everything that lives is a pretty nuts solution to come too.

It's not what the Necrontyr wanted, though. It's the C'tan that kept egging on the Necrons to kill everyone so they could devour their souls.

The Necrontyr and the Old Ones also have no connection beyond the war, by the way. Much like the humans, the Necrontyr developed independently from the Old Ones.
  6. The Necrontyr didn't hate all life in the Galaxy? Including their own lives

They only hated the Old Ones and their creations (Eldar, Orks). They hated their own lives due to it being too short as the result of living on an irradiated shithole of a planet.
  8. So do they just view everything as a creation of the Old ones now and their hatred blinds them

Or is it the whole being a soulless automaton fighting for the soul buffet for the C'tan

Both. The "regular" Necron isn't able of autonomous thought, but a Necron lord still retains its consciousness and inidividuality.

They turned against the C'tan long ago, though.

My brother who played the TableTop got me into 40k when he introduced me to DoW. The first faction I played was Biel-Tan Eldar. Thought the Avatar was totes kickass, stuck with it. Then I got into the TableTop at the ripe age of 9, made some horribly painted models that I still have today, and ended up being donated my brother's Dark Angels army when he decided he didn't play anymore. Which is also why I play Dark Angels Space Marines.

I like the Eldar because an army of specialists appeals to me since I am never any good when I just generalize. I do my job to the best of my ability - If it's not something for me to do, I don't do it. Because I'm lazy. Also because I like the look of their power weapons. Especially the executioner.

Also because Eldar are generally one of the hardest factions to play because they're elitists, and I like feeling better than everyone else :p
