I consider them having no unique flavor to be a reason. They are everything combined but have nothing of their own. If you were to take every other Warband and join them together without the Black Legion name then it would be the exact same thing that the BL is right now. Luna Wolves had some flavor but there is like no aspect of them even left in the BL i find that makes them easily dislikable
I'm a Necron fanboy and a Blood Angels fanboy, so I enjoyed them teaming up even though it was completely retarded and made no sense. C: I also don't see the problems with the giant cyborg wolves. WH40K is full of over-the-top stuff like that, it's why it's so popular.
I find /tg/'s interpretation of the Black Legion funny, and yet I like them. I don't get why there's so much hate for it in the community. Are there really people who can't seperate /tg/ fanon from canon?
Depressingly enough, yes. There are people out there who seriously believe that every Black Crusade was just another attempt to take over Cadia, among other nonsensical things.
Hmm. Maybe it's because I am an aspiring writer, but I see Abaddon's apparent failures as nothing but a narrative neccessity. After all, if he does succeed, the setting would change drastically. Because of this, I wouldn't mind the crusades failing... Such events shouldn't measure a character or group's worth. Maybe that's why I can enjoy both tg and canon.
haha. Yes i respect all aspects of 40k because i LOVE 40k. To blatantly hate something because you dont agree with something is childish, and something a noobie would do. Being a Fan and a Fanboy are 2 different things. A Fan tells the creator when they make mistakes because they care about the universe as a whole, a fan sees the universe as an actual universe which has many different elements many of which may be bad or good. A FANBOY blindly loves the entirety of the universe and never complains or bats an eyelash regardless of what bad decisions or elements are made. You provide no benefit to the universe's survival by being a Fanboy so please dont attempt to tell me that YOU are a "true fan" because i may die of laughter
"Matt Ward's story where some Grey Knights slaughter some Sisters of Battle and wear their blood to protect them against Khornate corruption is retarded" can be considered a valid criticism of a certain piece of WH40K literature because it contradicts better-written sources. "The Black Legion are gay because they're too mainstream and Abaddon is an armless noob", on the other hand, is not supported by the subjective "better" parts of 40K and boils down to a fucking meme.
I am inclined to agree. I say know the actual lore before deciding judgement. The Black Crusades have been mostly successful as each one had a specific focus and Abaddon was the architect of these plans therefore making him at least competent at his job. However the Warmaster himself should not be strapped down to the Legion in a single opinion. I do not hate either Abaddon or the Black Legion but i dislike them both for different reasons. I do however HATE Eldar and the Dark Angels
