I enjoy the idea of dreads n termies (and their other race equivalents) being unlocked through battles and not levels. Like kill-streaks in other games or point capture, teamplay, etc... (plus imo the dread should be an NPC compared to termy armour that's a player upgrade...) And of course it should be limited to a certain number per engagement. -If it is level based then we'll reach a point after a few months (weeks?) where everyone will field them and it would not make any sense.. -It gives an incentive to players to give their best each time in order to get to it first and tip the balance of conflict Off course I imagine that level-based upgrades for those "armors" could be added to that system and give another incentive for players to level up as well (more diverse weapon loadouts after a certain level compared to the standard loadout you get at level 1). -->On point Unlock + Level Upgrade
Not sure about Dreadnoughts: I think they could be NPC's elite units with scripted AI thats auto deploy when "purchased" and beginning chase the enemies, or can be used by veteran players who died and choose the option to respawn as Dreads (of course with limited numbers and high resources costs). On the other hand, Terminator class should be available only to players who satisfy the right ranks, perks and achievments to be eligible for wearing those powerful elite armors, and that should cost some resources too.
I think there should be a good amount of vehicles in comparison to the amount of havocs or heavy weapons specialists seeing as (in Space marines at least) they are one of the 4 classes meaning high numbers. 1. So the vehicles don't get targeted and destroyed too easily. 2. So good laz-cannons, krak grenades and rocket launchers don't get put to waste on infantry if they can be used for a better purpose. Although i don't really know what weapons will be used and how easily accessible they will be, there might not be krak grenades at all, and you might be able to switch from krak to frag on missile lanchers, and that is still assuming that it and the lazcannon are in the game, which i hope they are. and also the havoks can probably use anti-infantry weapons as well which could make it more balanced. Also, is there any word of tanks being used on the battlefield?, as i think i've heard some mention, but no great details like the dreadnaughts. and i know it's possible that all these things have been accounted for and have maybe been discussed on forums but i am yet to find them, and i already wrote all this haha
keep in mind, the eldar do not have a terminator equivilant as far as i'm aware. I think that termies should work like PS2 maxes, but even more powerful and a bit rarer. Also, one of the problems with what you are saying is that this game is going to have FAR more than 1200 ultramarines playing at a given time (if successful), so there are going to be more dreadnoughts/terminators than you might think.
300 Terminators and 90 Dreadnoughts on one battlefield sounds terrible. IMO ther must be something like 50 Terminators and 5 Dreads. But they should be really powerful to balancу the small amount of them.
Sorry I assumed there were different fonts for a reason, haha, it was sort of a reflex from word. and i deleted the copy
REMEMBER people. The developers have stated that it is not going to be a balanced game in terms of classes/power. You cannot "balance" a war. Although 90 dreadnaughts is ridiculous, having a large amount of tactical dreadnaught armor is not. Considering that in most chapter formations, the first company is usually made up of terminators(some special chapters excluded) and some of these chapters have a high volume of them. Although I do not expect them to have too many terminators, these chapters that were chosen are the largest and most popular ones for a reason. They aren't some small, fleet based chapter that is lucky to even have a SINGLE dreadnaught.
The game has to be balanced, other wise, wats the point for other factions to be in the game? There has too be limits for dreadnaughts and Terminators, lets say for a hundred space marine there can be only 1 dreadnaught at one time and 2 Terminators, allsow only weteran players should have such possobility. I thnik Dreadnaughts are more easy to find on the battlefield then a Terminator SM.
"If you look at chess, the game is fully balanced. But if you take a white queen and a black pawn, they’re not balanced against each other, but the black pawn can still beat the white queen, depending on the strategy you use. So that’s what we mean."
