Why slugga boyz?

Which is, if you really get into the lore or RP at all, a freeing way to play your Ork. Sure, you don't try to get killed and you follow the Boss's plan, but charging in (especially en masse) swinging violently at anything that isn't green is perfectly acceptable (and sometimes works). Of course, employing a little "kunnin'" goes a long way...

Balance is balance, however, and Behavior has some constraints in a video game like this that you wouldn't see on the tabletop. While they have a ways to go, especially for the new factions, I think they have done a good job overall with the translation.

Saying Space Marine has no lore is silly.

It may not have canon, but it has lore.

But I think the simple fact here is, that the name of the Sluggaboys is more recognisable and iconic.

I am not 100% sure on Orklore, but when do you become a Skarboy? Just when you grow bigger? I think it is fair to assume that those boys are already veterans of many fights who have grown, so I guess Skarboys would be the right name?
  5. Probably after receiving some scars, meaning they've fought a hard fight and still survived?

Everything with orks is relative. A boy is just a basic infantry with generic orky weapons. They could huge hulked out monsters (Beast arises series) capable of killing a SM in 1v1 combat or they could be weedy luttle gits. A boy just means you are lower on the totem pole than another ork. A nob is bigger and has worked his way up the chain. Some nobs can actually be weaker than basic boyz of a different waaaggghhh. It just depends on how well that specific waaaggghhh is doing and how much fightiness they have built up. I mean a boy from the Octarius (probably spelled that wrong) who has managed to survive for years against the nids is gonna be a hell of a lot tougher than a boy on a single free booter ship that hardly does anything.

Dats a good point. Skarboys were basically S4 Ork boys, which if you added heavy armor would make them basically SM equivalents with bad leadership and initiative.

Skarboys were in previous editions of 40k tabletop. Basically they were ork boys with Strength 4 instead of Strength 3.
Ork boys grow throughout their lives, eventually reaching the status of a nob, and if they get dead 'ard and killy enough they eventually grow into Warbosses, but usually they got offed before then by somebody bigger and harder (life of an Ork is nasty, brutish and short).

Orks gain strength and size through combat, which is why for example Ghazghkull Thraka's waaagh has an unusual number of Skarboys and nobs - they get bigger and tougher the more they survive fights. It's part of ork physiology. By contrast, if they don't fight, they stay comparatively smaller. That's why Orks constantly fight amongst themselves.

Skarboys were like the in-between for an Ork before he gets to become a nob. He's tough, scarred up and been in a lot of scraps, a little bigger and stronger than your average Ork but not as dead killy and hard as a Nob.

They actually didn't have a separate model in tabletop, which is why it makes sense that the boys in game would be Skarboys. It makes perfect sense.

The slugga boy with the most expensive ax (I forget the name) is my favorite. He is quite devastating against marines. The issue that I have is that he is still squishy out in the open. You really need to blind side with him. The backup and shoot can take him down. The load out points doesn't allow for upgraded armor which I believe would help.

CC wise the slugga can go toe-to-toe with anything the SM send us, except the power fist. That either stun locks you or clang loss. I really had a hard time evading them. My favorite move of evade and fast hit never seemed to work. I can't wait for the claw.

I mean they can also just straight up say the boyz we play as are ard or skar boyz something to that effect.

As others have pointed out if Marines can die in the hundreds on this planet without the Chapter running away to lick their wounds then it is exceptionally more acceptable that the small amount of boyz we represent are a bit better than the average to go roughly 1:1 with LSM....although they should give us a faster spawn timer to represent numerical advantage.

I mean the math for Orks would work even in a literal sense. Lets say a WAAAGH large enough to take on Arkohna it would have to be a few million Orks for this sized battle. We represent a few thousand of that million+ ork group if anything and boyz get arder and arder all the time so attrition isn't really an Orky thing lol.

You just need someone to drive you to the fight so you can hit them in melee!
