Alright, the weakest melee-specialised class in this game became even more shitty than it had been before, although I didnt believe it was possible. So now even banshee's scream, which was a total crap from the beginning, became absolutely useless - it has been nerfed drastically. I cant even kill a Tactical class, light-armoured SM with one hit! I checked it from SM's side as well - equipped an ordinary armour, no forged or golden one (dont know how it's named exactly) and simply tried to fight a banshee, she screamed at me and then charged a heavy attack - I remained alive, although I was supposed to be downed! Why, why are you doing this! Banshees are squisher Striking Scorpions with no stealth mechanics and two extra stamina points for a high cost although they are supposed to have more stamina by default since their acrobatic style implies increased endurance, they have absolutely no speed advantage over other factions' melee-specialised classes and, moreover, no access to high-tier melee weapons. Stahp, please, this class is already total shit, dont make it even worse. And please dont say that she charges a heavy attack for a 0.5 second faster than other factions do - this is absolutely no advantage at all, especially given that your heavy attack is ALWAYS interrupted even in the middle of its performance by a fast attack (when banshee twists in the air, swinging her power blade down), while you cant interrupt space marine's or an ork's heavy attack in this way
I feel your pain, scorpions also have it really bad lacking the punch to take on opponents after about tier 3. Then of course they all have power weapons and it becomes irrelevent because your backstab won't OHK them and then you can do nothing but run there after... except they can RMB teleport faster than you can run so... yeah, figure that one out. Also about eldar stuff being interuptable, does it seem like marines can't be interupted throwing their inevitable suicide krak grenade that then OHK's everything around it but our grenade throw takes so damn long we can't do the same?
Not to mention marines can do that while melee'ing, or within miliseconds of finishing a melee animation, meanwhile Eldar have to wait 2+ seconds before they have the chance of throwing one. Not to mention our Plasma grenade doesn't even do as much damage as the marine's frag grenades. marines also get Shields, which let's them be pretty much immune to all things Banshee, while keeping a melee weapon that is higher tier. They also get jpa's, which can just nope out of a stun (meaning that once they're stunned they can fly out of it like it never even happened. Also, all marines are stunned for a maximum of one second, meanwhile all Eldar get stunned for a minimum of two, if that makes any sense.
None what so ever, I think given my having to move soon and the general frustration this games causing, or rather the devs are causing, I am going to take a prolonged break. We'll see if I come back to it to find things as empty as Hawkens servers.
Came back after the birth of my son and this game is a fright. -Eldar still have no wargear compared to the other factions. -The struggle with melee weapon tiers is stupid, we still only have tier 1 and 2 weapons. One guy brings a powerfist/klaw and you are doomed unless he gets swarmed, and since he's most likely a JPA he'll just flit away. Which is another bone I have to pick with this game, 3 of 4 factions have a hyper mobile melee unit which by and by is a shock trooper but our shock trooper just gets some bonus stamina which does nothing since you just get chased down by RMB on a dodge, and a gimp scream (scream needs to be STUNNING, not debuffing). Blech, no contest. Banshee should be moving like a JPA but with athletic ability. -Dark Reaper, our heavy weapon class is useless. You hardly ever see a Reaper, 3 weapons 1 of them broken to all shit. Tempest is crap, Shuriken cannon is a Walmart heavy bolter at best. -Melee just gone to balls somewhere in the patches. Not to mention we have 3 melee classes that are mediocre at best. Scorpions can only really defend and ambush, Banshee's can't compete with Shields or assault packs in most situations, and Warlocks are okay but suffer the same issues as the Banshee's more or less. Today was running into situations where I was getting 2 shot but I would have to carefully choose my combat techniques because if I got stunned it was game over for me but if I stunned them I couldn't down them in time. -Aside from roadkilling our vehicles are crap. Weapons on the Wave Serpent have been nerfed so much you can't bring down anyone in any decent amount of time I think they're twin-link catapults now, thought they were shuriken cannons. So much for that lofty Eldar technology. -Fusion gun nerf made them more useful in an anti-infantry role, but not as great against vehicles. Honestly not too bad a change, but the missing wargear is hurting us here again. We don't have a multi-melta equivalent so we're 3rd on vehicle kills. I'm watching Dev's and Havoc's just EAT armor. Orks still might have it worse with no melta equivalent. -Dire Avengers lack punch, at least that's how it feels. I'm not putting people down with a catapult like I get put down with a bolter or slugga. Which could be more about the buffs to survival that went out, and not the weapon itself. -I also want to know how it took one post release patch to get RL's nerfed to shit, but PC's are STILL untouched doing the same thing RL's were doing at launch (well doing it better actually, that short ass charge time is no joke) Just....I don't know. I feel like there have been some major steps backward for this game.
We can only 1 hit when you are debuffed with the scream. Once we use it, the Banshee is vulnerable. We NEED SOMETHING to make up for a lack of jump packs.
Not to mention we die in 1-2 hits of most everything, yet don't have the damage to make up for that. I'll keep saying this, I went into a 1v1 duel with a ground assault around a capture point as a Banshee, I successfully 'countered' him 7-8 times, but wasn't even able to get off a single fast attack before he was un-stunned and blocking/rolling again. This was even before the nerf to damage mods/buff to marine armor as well, so there has always been a huge problem with our damage in a 1v1 context, we're just usually more co-ordinated, so there's more than one person attacking a single target. That's where most of the damage comes from if you're playing as Eldar, not yourself alone, but 4-5 people all attacking the same target, meanwhile all the other factions have to do is just use any kind of weapon against us and they will kill, since over 50% of our classes have 80 toughness, the lowest in the entire game. Not to mention all the other factions get a melee character with an easy stun/stun-breaker, so they can just melee spam all the time, beating our dedicated melee classes without contest. Not to mention all of the other factions get melee weapons that are higher tier than powerswords, leaving Eldar that much further behind everyone else. (Haven't fought many Orks, to be honest, but in my opinion they have too much poison stuff. Was running to a point, since I didn't want to get in a vehicle, and I got shot twice by an Ork and had a little over 50% of the poison meter filled, needless to say it killed me.)
It's not about one-hit killing, I (and many other Eldar players, I think) wanted to see completely different effects of banshee's scream, it were devs who gave banshee's scream these "advantages" (the second one - lowering your foe's weapon tier - is broken from the beginning and doesnt work at all). So we had this jinx-like scream - only this, nothing more - and it has been nerfed and our supposedly strongest melee class has no advantages at all. I'm talking about the melee-specialised class being unique, I'm not whinning that I cant kill with one hit anymore, it was simply our the only shitty, but still advantage and now we have nothing. Damnit, even extra stamina needs to be taken for LP - why! Banshees are acrobatic warriors and they by default are much endurer than any other Eldar warriors, even Striking Scorpions. Given her low toughness, banshee is just a doll for beating against more-less skilled melee player. She is not even faster than other Eldar classes, this is ridiculous, her dbash is extremely slow for her battle role and if you fight against any SM, CSM or Ork melee player who is not a total noob, you will most certainly lose - either your sword will be broken pretty fast or you will be slaughtered by lock-on RMB spammers and your rolls wont help at all. The majority of melee players are always equipped with a shield and a weapon which is much stronger than banshee's sword - not even mention that Orks have burning and electrified choppas and Space Wolves this fiery axe! I have nothing against such loadouts but give me something to oppose them properly I claimed several times and repeat it again that banshee's scream must do two things: completely drain enemy stamina and stun him for 1-2 seconds, THIS IS how banshee's scream is supposed to work. Banshees in whole are supposed to be much faster and only in this case I'll be ready to accept their low toughness.
Congratulations on your son's birth! I understand your feelings on a lot of that. The one thing I will contest though is Eldar being third on the vehicle kill list. Yes eldar don't have a multi-melta, but they are the only faction with a meltabomb bundle, and the lascannon equivalent reaper launcher has some outside utility that doesn't make it completely useless outside of long range vehicle hunting. I put eldar first on the list for vehicle kills. I do think the meltabomb bundle is overpriced... by about 10LP. Seriously, look how close it is Literally 1o points over from having both MC fusions and the meltabomb bundle. So close to being the lord of fire. Oh yeah, and that banshee nerf thing. Yeah, that must suck.
First of all, congratulations. Second, I really don't see much of a difference in damage for DA's. They just suffer at mid-long range where bolters shine.
