Why isn't progression Faction wide?

  1. Why do advancements exist if they aren't an advantage?

advancements are not advancements they are side paths .
    ..
  3. What happened was I initially created a Blood Angel. But, the devastator class has a nasty, clashing color scheme between the helmet and the body, (I know I know, "muh lore") and since they don't offer a basic recolor of the default helmet, I went to the Ultra Marine, my second favorite chapter. But, now, I just want to look at something a little different because I'm pushing 40 hours on this guy. Just want to mix it up. And as I explained in the OP there's no reason why I should have to start from scratch, just for a re-color.
  4. But you also answered your own question.

  5. They're literally called advancements. "Side paths"? Lol, what? And they advance your character giving you ADVANTAGES in the form of reduced LP cost for primary weapons, better armor, and access to better gadgets. Not to mention the obvious being veterans and the halo standards.

  6. But it's just a re-recolor. It isn't any different. Did you miss the part where I'm talking about a scenario in which you already have a leveled character of the same faction? Literally nobody can explain why you should have to start over. All anyone can do is try to convince me "eh it's not that bad, oh, you aren't at a disadvantage" (even though that's objectively false)
  7. I'm not trying to convince you of anything.

But it is a new character and that's why you have to start again.

Bill of the Blood Angels is not Dave of the Dark Angels.

nah not really see , you will never replace the bolter as a main weapon
you will never really change war gear once you unlocked the meta build.

everything else is for making situational loadouts like a special load out for room clearing thats armed with a storm bolter and maybe extra stamina for dodge rolling .. but other than that you just grind and unlock stuff, most of which you will prob never use
your Bolter marine's only upgrade will be a weapon attachment here and there and a red armor that you can afford by reducing the cost of the boltgun by 100 and stuff like that.
infact there is so little progression on gear itself i skipped opening the 500. 3000.12.000 supply crates on the orks and just went straight into the 30k to get dem nice looking weapons most of which are useless .. but at least they look cool..

also is it to soon to tell you veteran classes only have 1 life a game ?

You mix various different issues into this whole discussion:

    • This is a marine only problem cause xeno factions simply have not such a huge difference between their subclasses and are too small in population to make anyone even think about it.
    • Most games which give you the option to create multiple chars from the same "class" or faction exspect you to level up and gear each char individually as it is a simple and cheap method to stretch content. Your second Wow-Warrior needs to level and gear and raid the same way (apart from those very few boe items), your second or third stellaris playthrough even with the same faction also starts at tick 1.
    • You think that the current system was actually designed the way it is. You are wrong, initially they wanted to give each subfaction an unique approach / advantages. Sadly this was never worked on and it was chanceled. After that they went with what we got now and we were told we would see "slates" as the next feature to subfactions. Those "slates" are supposed to be full costumes bought for rtc - basically a full body type skin - you can purchase and use on a character. This was promised to be for second founding chapters and if successfull can be expanded on and came with the conclusion that additional chapters and subfactions (and even factions) were currently not on the plate.
    • If you are unhappy with your subfaction and can not make the weird-red one piece pyjama of the BA-Devastator unseen, you can request a subfaction change with customer support. You won't get a refund for those subfaction RTC items but they won't be lost either since they are accountbound. In the future there will be a paid subfaction change feature, similar to the renaming service currently available. The devs said it is already in production.
  10. Except when I want a Plasma gun, Stormbolter, Grav gun, Or any of the other bolter variations. But..ya...

Yes which is why I don't want to go through opening hundreds of loot boxes on a new character again...

I'm well aware. But how does that help your point?
