The game can be fun for me. In short doses. In longer doses, the shitty melee system, lag, lack of map variety + quality begin to grate after the fourth game.
Ye can always fun, ye jus' gotta 'ave da roight mindset. I don't play ta' win, I play ta' 'ave meself a WAAAGH! o' a toim. Win er lose, az long az da foight wuz roight gud I don't care
It's just lackluster in every aspect, there isn't nothing really great about it. It looks meh, it plays meh, it's grindy, rewards are meh...
+1 Right now I'm not playing because I'm tired of the Dbash being broken for Traitor, Tactical and Dire Avenger. Me playing again depended purely on it's functionality being restored for knife users. Fortunately they have done so, so I'll be jumping back in as soon as the content patch arrives. I am still disappointed with the Eldar "flip" animation. It completely wipes out any feel of immersion for me. Eldar animations in general just don't feel right. I can't really put my finger on why I don't like the running. It just looks wooden... as if the torso has no mass and is just floating while the legs move for no other reason than to simulate running. Game still feels a bit small and very much a respawn fest. I'm really tired of one-hit-kill weapons, in particular the PC. I don't mind stuff that kills me quickly, but OHK is just not necessary. The larger the maps get and the more emphasis is placed on each individual life (or spawn) for the player, the more I will enjoy it. OHK weapons in melee being able to attack downed enemies makes for a very fast player death with no chance at revival. I'd like to see the game move more towards longer life provided team mates are there to cover, protect and revive you.
- random supply drops - no queuing for matches while in the garrison - state of melee - time to kill combined with latency - incomplete basic classes - horrible vehicle handling - ...
Right now the biggest thing that keeps me from playing is the optimization, even on the lowest settings the game runs terrible.
I reinstalled the game last night and played a few games, while it is much better than what I saw last time I played it, and I did have some entertaining moments while playing as the Orks, the overall feeling I had was one of frustration (disregarding everything the game was promised to be etc). The UI is pretty bad, navigating menus is particularly tedious and slow. The minimap is borderline useless and the big map you can open takes like a second to fade in and lacks lots of information (Eg spawn area boundaries). Movement feels clunky and cumbersome. If anyone has ever played Arma 2 or DayZ, it feels close to that. In my game last night a bunch of fellow Orks were moving to another point, and we all got stuck on a section of terrain we couldn't vault over, and then got plasma-cannoned. Overall asset quality is pretty sketchy. Sound effects, particle effects, models, terrain, map props, most are "okay" but there are some really nasty examples like the Ork Trukk which looks like a toy. Melee combat has been summed up enough many times. I'll just say it's broken and not enjoyable. Shooting is the best aspect of this game. Many weapons feel somewhat satisfying to use, others have a lot of drift to their recoil and control. Comparing this to any of the recent battlefield games, where recoil-heavy weapons generate very heavy upwards recoil but are controllable with some skill. In EC, many weapons drift left and right as well as up, and it's pretty fucking impossible to hit things at mid-long range. There are too many 1-hit kills in the game in general which cannot be countered with any form of skill. Vehicle handling and shooting is really sketchy. Edit: Game desperately needs optimization. I have a high end rig and I frequently get drops. Also, EU servers are needed.
Oh oh i almost forgot the bullshit free2play random loot boxes. Spending 12-30k to get a bullshit reskin of a weapon i already have is infuriating. All reskins should be in 5k boxes MAX.
