Why is this even something I have to bring up?

Why the fuck is the auto-aim:
    1) even a goddamned thing for K&M players?
    2) ON by default for all players?
    3) unable to be turned the fuck off?
    4) snappier than a coked out tortoise?

Seriously. The game has been out for how long and this is still a thing?
Infuriating. The amount of kills/shots/assists that I've missed because the game decides that my crosshair should snap to the fucking environment is absurd. FIX. THIS.

    Hiya buddy,

By the sounds of it the 'auto aim' you're describing is the game telling you the path from your weapon barrel to the target is obscured by some sort of environmental object in the way.

Basically, if the reticle isn't right in the middle of the screen, it means you won't hit your target. It's not auto-aiming, it's giving you a visual clue to show an obscured path to the target to compensate for the slight offset on the 3rd person camera.

Negative. If I point a pokkit rokkit launcha down an open, unobscured doorway, the reticle will 'jump' the the left or right of the frame on its own, forcing my weapon to fire where the crosshairs have moved.

This sort of "feature" is not present in other 3rd-person shooters and is not necessary. It acts like a magnet, forcing my shots to hit the environment around my target. Again, even with something like a rokkit, it pulls my aim and snaps to a surface because it detects something, usually it seems like an enemy is around the area.

It certainly might seem that way, but I assure you it's the reticle indicating that its path to target is obscured. It could be a bug, where it's detecting an obstacle where one doesn't exist, but it has nothing to do with auto aiming.

Whatever it is, it acts like an auto-aim by snapping to the environment when nothing is blocking my path. If I am shooting at a target behind cover whose head I can clearly hit, my reticle will snap to the ledge they are actually behind, keeping me from being able to actually target their meaty bits. This feature is not working as intended whatever it is, and shouldn't even exist.

And, even if it isn't exactly auto-aim, it's correcting my manual aim forcibly, which is certainly a symptom of auto-aim. My mislabeling it doesn't detract from the fact that it isn't necessary or helpful. Even assuming it did work as intended, having something override my manual input in such a way is like having somebody place training wheels on my bicycle as an adult. This sort of "feature" is only really a thing for people using a controller, and at the very least should have an option to turn it off.

I do actually agree that the implementation is annoying. I would prefer the reticle stay in the centre of the screen and changes to a big red cross or something when I won't be able to hit the target. That would technically be giving me less information than the current implementation though, since the current one allows you to work out where you need to move in order to get a clear shot.

It is not, however, as you described it in your opening post, so I was just correcting your misunderstanding. Try playing the game again, but bear in mind what is actually going on with the reticle and you'll see it does make sense.
