Why is melee lock-on still in?

Well, gamepad support should probably be removed same day auto-lock is removed. And then anything that can still kill auto-canon users.

Lock on needs to be removed from the PC Version. What are we ? Joystick tapping plebs ?
Problem is: We are just Beta Testing Meat, that is used to help polish and finance this Project until they can release on Console.

    It has been done.

Tactical and knife user defensive bashes now stun long enough to give one free hit. 4 successive D bashes followed up with knife hits downs a preset assault on the UAT server. Tacticals will have a fair chance in melee after the update goes live.

I do not see any problem with melee lock provided all players have a decent chance in melee when playing better than the opponent. I personally don't see why all pistols are not locking. They are supposed to help you in a melee engagement but as it stands no tactical bothers to take out their pistol in melee.

I suspect those of you who are arguing for lunge to be shorter or rolls to be longer did not play in alpha. This is how it was in alpha and melee was useless while it was.

  4. You know, i used to bitch on the forums about lock on a daily basis, until one day i asked Brent in the discord channel if there was any chance that it would be removed, he said it was very unlikely, almost impossible, EC died a bit for me that day, like, i didn't stop playing because of that or anything, but from that day onward i knew EC would never be the game i wanted it to be.
  5. You guys should play some Halo. Melee one shots there, no saving throws allowed.

Implement full friendly fire, even from melee. That would bring some interesting results in regards to skill ;)
  7. Half damage would be ok. Full damage is too much cause oneshot is not for this game. Look at all the bitching re PC
  8. Because melee won't work without it.

For Honor has a melee lock on system but it works so well with that game because the melee is built around that concept. For example, enemy swings overhead so you raise your weapon to block, unless it's a feint then you're exposed and it rewards skilled combat and feels visceral, real, weighty.

This game has a hack and slash melee play style that doesn't lend itself to lock on combat but what can you do, it's been in forever and console players can't function in a shooter without it.

Yes and melees with no big guns get destroyed by ranged with the big guns. I'm not accusing you of it but I see too many people WALK TOWARDS a melee with their bolter. Like why tho? Backpeddle and hip fire you'll be fine. If your ranged you will et killed more in melee, that's just the way it is, they have a big sword and you don't. The lock-on has been a major part of the melee system since day one, without it tacticals would just be able to dodge roll around and then just destroy them with storm bolsters. If your talking about how higher durability weapons deal to win melee a lot more easily then that's another problem not the lock on.
