Yeah and even then, they don't have undisputed dominance over anything in their preferred combat range.
But, A boltgun/Shoota will auto-win in 1v1 bouts against a shuriken catapult at 25m+ if both are scoring mostly headshots. Even at point blank the two other default guns don't perform anywhere near as bad as an ASC at mid-long range.
Doesn't help that it will usually be a TLASC. Its not a bad weapon by any means and better than the Storm-Bolter, but it always bothers me a bit if people act like picking TLASC only to be competitive in DPS-races does not come with additional downsides.
Also, DA's are mostly helpless in melee. Which is kinda stupid considering you need to get close to the enemy to deal any damage.
IMO, Dire Avengers and Swooping Hawks should swap weapons: Hawks are a bit powerful as flying Snipers but would do fine as flying damage-dealers. And Dire Avengers could focus on long-range harassment and assassination, leaving the face-to-face combat to melee-specialists.
Its better DPS at nearly the same effectiveness range. Shuriken catapults, TL or not, wont win head-to-head with the aforementioned weapons at mid-range onward.TL makes it a helluva lot faster to down a target in your comfort zone while regular ASC has better fire-support potential due to the slightly less steep damage fall-off and a scope.
For me it mostly comes down to "Do I wanna mag-dump faster?" or "Do I wanna reload faster?" in choosing which one i'm going to use in a match.
Remember when ASC had that nifty heavy barrel mod, instead of the crappy impulse accelerrator?
My MCASC with heavy barrel, textured grip and starshard mag/fast reload used to shred LSM with headshots. It was easily the most accurate weapon in game. But then they got rid of heavy barrel, and nerfed EHP....rendering the ASC almost useless. With the x2 scope it brings back some usefulness though, which always helps, but twin linked is just the better way to go. Especially since you are in medium ranged combat as an avenger anyway 75 percent of the time.

My biggest problem with eldar is roadkill.
If I'm meltaing any other vehicle, I can do a careful positioning to avoid getting runover. Eldar vehicle just moves sideways.
I've seen games won by literally hanging out in high traffic areas and running everyone down.
That and that double melta means you hit G twice and run, instead of hit G once and then slow down while you fire your melta for however long is necessary. The difference can be a vehicle with no hit points or 1 hit point. And a vehicle with 1 hit point is still a spawn point.
Then adapt and dont use a melta , use a lascanon
And meltabombs are being nerfed on uat
I get that adapting to the enemy is important. But outside of AV eldar roadkill is still ridiculous. Any other race you can do a reasonably good job of avoiding roadkill, but the eldar vehicles are virtually unavoidable for anyone without a jump pack.
Being caught on open ground is a death sentence unless the driver just isn't interested in killing you (and they're always interested in killing you given how little effort and time it takes). I know eldar tanks are weak, but I think they should be made better tanks instead of being roadkill machines
