here is the best way to sum up the history of legions fighting.......Bonesnapper (The Faces Of The Slain)"

    When I first saw him
He was standing in the rain
Fading light, it still gave sight, to the faces
    The faces of the slain

How many have fallen before you?
How many have you sent below?
How can you ever show pity?
Is that a word that you know?
    You are the merciless bastard
You are the end of the song
You are the pillar, the pinion, the piston
You are the ramrod of wrong

    Bonesnapper--War god
    Bonesnapper--Fat sod
    Bonesnapper--Bonesnapper
    Aiii!

    Bonesnapper--Black troll
    Bonesnapper--Skull bowl
    Bonesnapper--Bonesnapper
    Aiii!

Now the wheel has turned full circle
Now you shall pay for your crimes
Summon your brothers to fight there beside you
Still you have run out of time
All of your life you have served death
Now you are part of the wheel
    You embraced evil within you
Til' the love of death was all that you could feel

    Bonesnapper--War god
    Bonesnapper--Fat sod
    Bonesnapper--(nice bod)
    Aiii!

    Bonesnapper--Black troll
    Bonesnapper--Skull bowl
    Bonesnapper--Bonesnapper
    Aiii!

    The faces of the slain
    How many fallen before you?
How many have you sent below?
How can you ever show pity?
Is that a word that you know?
Still they will all flock to find you
And purge your scourge from all these plains
Still it's not too late for you to devastate
    And leave far behind you
    the faces of the slain
    The faces of the slain

Now your life is to be forfeit
Now you shall redeem your pain

    When I first saw him
He was standing in the rain
Fading light, it still gave sight, to the hideously mutilated, pus-engorged and maggot infested
    faces of the slain

    Bonesnapper
    The faces of the slain

This thread should've been called "Drop Site Massacre", or "Istavaan V". Instead of why nobody likes rusty hands.

After the events of Istvaan V Fulgrim did regain control of his mind/body but was still very much the puppet of Slaneesh. He knew what he had done, the traitorous acts he had committed and he also knew that his soul was lost and beyond redemption. He was even more driven by his pride, vanity and ambition fuelled by guilt, paranoia and distrust. He played Horus's game for a while but was never truly willing to accept him as Warmaster, how could anyone be 'his' superior. Several months after Istvaan V he went his own way and ultimately achieved ascension and became a daemon prince of Slaneesh.

Wait I think I know now why Ferrus Manus died. Because he was carrying a freaking wrench into battle.

Maybe he was trying to fix a toilet on the battlefield. The real reason is the artist was a idiot .

The Iron hands are one of my favorites, but frankly I get why other people don't like, Their whole chapter is centered around a fear and hatred of weakness which when you think about is an extremely basic "human" flaw, No one really likes genuinely flawed characters. Especially ones they can relate to.

Also the Iron hands are not just tech priests in fact when it comes down to it the mechanicus and the Iron hands have little in common besides a veneration for machinery. The Iron Hands hate their flesh even though its the most perfect form humanity's ever crafted because they're afraid it corruptible. They go lengths to suppress their emotions and anything like pity, or even basic reason is thrown out the window simply on the grounds of being weak. Read "wrath of Iron" it gives them a very interesting perspective.
