Though I do feel that, when next to all the other races they don't quite fit in. But not because of their " Greater Good ", but because of their high tech weapons and armour. Most of the races in 40k are kinda like their Warhammer Fantasy counterparts in the way they act. Space Marines are sort of like knights. Orks are orcs, who woulda thought? Eldar are elves. Necrons are Tomb Kings. But tau? They're the first alien race in 40k that truly feels like a sci-fi alien race. Which is weird, because tyranids are very alien too, but I have no issues with them.
yea i agree that tau can be seen as sooo cheap in a lot of ways but the fact they have no melee but great ranged combat is what makes them so appealing
I dislike the Tau because of 4 reasons 1. In TT they are so OP and boring to fight 2. they are naive and the ethereal just feed them bullshit 3. some how Comander Farsight isn't corrupted by chaos because i'm pretty sure that his sword is a daemon weapon 4. All of Tau can't be possessed might not be true but i haven't heard of a possessed Tau
Just so you know i agree on your TT opinion tau where made for players that prefered ranged only combat 2. well not exactly unlike popular belief Tau have free will and have shown it in many situations 3. and 4. Farsights sword isn't exactly chaos its most likely C'tan or made by some other far past alien race also you do know the chance to corrupt a tau is about 900000000000 to 1 or 0.000000000009 % but there have been examples of Tau being possesed for example in the PS2 game Tau Fire Warrior the main character a Tau Fire warrior Kias (its debated weather its the same one as in DoW1) is possessed by a Chaos Daemon which did not take over him but drasicaly made him more powerful Tau Fire Warrior Game cover
