Heresy!Emperor Mengsk will hear of this!

...It's been available for almost a year now and the campaign is not lengthy enough to make a difference.

I have a policy about people who cry heresy, and that policy is that I side with their enemies.

If you were young when you first came across 40k, think of what that was like right now. The sight of blood and gore on that game box that you could play as a kid and try to tell your parents "but there's maths in it so it's kinda like schoolwork!". That moment when your mate brings in his god awfully painted Chaplain or whatever to school but to you it's the best thing you've ever seen.

40k is not the best at what it is, it's not the cheapest, it's not even the most well designed, but there is nothing that can take a little pre-pubescent's neckbeard virginity quite like it. It definitely has it's place, though unfortunately it's becoming more and more marginalised.

I was 13 when I got into WH40k. My first 40k product was a box of Dire Avengers. On the box was a literal unedited photo of the models. I started playing it because I went into my local hobby store looking to play some MageKnight and one of my friends was there playing 40k with his friends. My introduction to 40k wasn't because I found the lore or artwork or models to be super-awesome, it was because my friend(s) were playing it instead of the game I was playing before.

Aite so what made you pick Eldar and what made you decide to pick DA as your first models to paint?

(Eldar were also my first army btw, I picked them because they had 0 models with their faces revealed and I figured they'd be a ballache to paint.)

I already did. The Terran Republic was crushed, their military practically slaughtered. Their Emperor was killed, and in his place now rules a much better leader who's not a complete jackass to his own troops.

Dire Avengers looked the coolest out of the boxes of models my FLGS had on their shelves and I was totally unaware that you couldn't mix and match different units from different armies. I also didn't know I had to assemble and paint them myself, but luckily I'd built and painted a variety of plastic airplane models earlier in my life so I had the supplies and know-how to get it done.

I would've gone with a box of Sisters of Battle, but I couldn't afford them at the time and I was still immature enough to be scared of my friends making fun of me for picking the "girl army."
