Why do people say Eldar are OP? Seriously!? My current gripe <incoming salty flame> I was driving a predator tank when I eldar hover drove straight at me and rammed me to a stop the driver pops out unloads a fusion cannon into me (front and side armor, he never even made it around to the rear) and kills a full health tank in less than 3 seconds! Are you FUCKING KIDDING ME!!!! He then pops back into his hover and darts away but not before running down 3 more marines that were no where near him, because apparently it has invisible saws that decapitate anyone that gets within 5 feet of it
Te fusion thing work both ways. Eldar tanks blow up in those 3 seconds too. And the roadkills, trust me i'm fuking angry at that 60% of my deads are from team player raming me. Ramming should only kill on vehicle front, and stun on sides/rear. For all races. Also raming friends should be punisheable.
After my little meltdown I decided to try playing an Eldar for myself, and wow! In 1 game I killed 7 rhinos...7! Chaos vehicles just evaporated! It is in no way equal to the standard melta for either lsm or csm! Maybe the Multimelta's but they are useless do to mobility. As to the fragile state of Eldar hovers, I did see the health drop quickly but I just darted away nice and easy or better yet just ran them over. Something no other race can do. (at least not easily) I will admit I must have run down at least 8-9 teammates on accident so that was a huge disadvantage but that hardly balances things out. The other Eldar weapons seemed about what I expected, Melee was an easy way to rack up points unless I ran into a lsm with that big nasty shield or a CSM with an autocannon (AG=instant win as far as I am concerned). I did not see many plasma cannons but when I did they ruined everything. Overall my level 1 Eldar character (I just made last night) consistently outperformed my LSM (that I have plenty of practice with). We even won a match where we were out numbered 7 eldar vs 12 CSM's!?
yeah same thing. Winning with marines is always a challenge, loosing with eldars needs a lot more talent ^^ I submitted the idea that you could dodge being run over from hover by crouching (which would make sense) but i don't think i'll ever be heard.
Ever considered that "losing with Eldars requiring more talent" and "winning with Marines" was because of teammates? I played consistently on both Eldar and LSM side, and I'm usually upset with people "not doing a thing". These players run around, trying to get kills while a capture point right next to them needs to be interrupted.... among other stupid actions. With the wave of "Eldar OP" unhappiness, a lot of these players just came to the Eldar faction, thinking they'd "win ez coz OP". This proportion tends to decrease due to Patch Notes explaining Eldar nerfs. Therefore, I usually get more teamplay on Eldar side. Don't misread me. I get plenty of teamplay on LSM and I'm usually really amazed by it. When LSM actually play as a team, they perform beautifully and stomp on a lot of things (even with only in-game communication, waypoints and chat). I also get some games where absolutely NOTHING can be trusted to Eldar teammates because they can't even defend a capture point against a naked Tactical. Teamplay contributes A LOT on the path towards victory, but personal game awareness and personal skill are also required. Unfortunately, finding people that have all three is terribly hard, easier in guilds, and due to the facts Space Marines are the "poster boys" of GW, I think they are more likely to have a higher concentration of players lacking game awareness. @Carc We both agree that dropping a vehicle with a melta or a fusion gun is not a hard job... Unless the said vehicle is on the move. Eldar players usually tend to stay in their Wave serpent to keep it out of melta's reach so it doesn't get destroyed too quickly, but other races park it around and run to the objective. Of course, due to the agility of the Wave serpent, it's much easier to keep it from harm, but still. An unmoving Wave serpent is pretty much as good as dead if a melta comes to it, unless eldar players around react VERY fast. Game awareness again... The match-up makes it all. You can land with very good Eldar players against bad Space marines and you can land with very bad Eldar players against good space marines.
Lets face it, those who are say "eldar are op" are those who losed one game what ever reasion againts eldar. (other side of the coin: other faction have better armour/hp and weapon)
So my personal experiance yes when i fight them (you lot....YES YOU IM LOOKING AT YOU STOP IT) they do feel really op but.... i actually think they are not... if anything your more annoying to fight against, but not cause of OP just tactics really, and i think alot of people confuse OP with frustration for me its the striking scorpions, are they op? no they are a stealth unit designed to sneak attack etc but people see that as OP because people are playing them how they well....should be played i know i have been guilty of this a few times (and i do apologies to those i vented at) also i think people say ELDAR OP ZOMG! is because you guys start with a preset AV class which lets be fair is pretty odd Not your fault by any means this ones entirely on the DEVS honestly i think every race should have a preset AV of some sort but thats for another discussion yes there are something more stronger then others but so what? every other race has them, JPA has those invincibility frames along with CSM plus plasma and auto cannon Orks honestly have well....i dunno really i know this might seem pretentious of me but we really have nothing op about us the stuff we did have has been hit hard and reworked through the patches hell our super stick bombs stick 1/4 of the time (well for me anyway) But yea all in all NO elder are not OP just.....Frustrating also i noticed i spelled eldar wrong this entire post but im to lazy to change it so forgive me <3
Sorry if this is a huge add on to an otherwise dead convo, but after reading these are my remarks (if anyone cares ) I can tell you that in my case, I always lock on and roll to the side when the opponent notices I've engaged them, to try and avoid an initial reaction and get an uncontested hit. As an Eldar I find this is needed, as I can't even be sure to take a devastator head on without him somehow defeating me. I've not one shot killed anyone with a backstab in weeks and feel if it ever actually existed it was patched out. I personally find my speed is always rendered moot by someone who simply spams the attack button in melee. My hit box doesn't matter in melee if your allies don't try to shoot me and end up hitting you. (I personally do take advantage of this as a Dire Avenger, but usually get back-stabbed by Tacticals as opposed to them shooting me which makes sense) I have honestly never noticed my lunge being any greater when playing as Eldar compared to Chaos (as sorcerer) or LSM (as apothecary) and don't play Ork melee enough to notice it at all. I have been many times killed during the approximately 1 second charge of the Embolden spell, the fact that I can soetimes get it off during a melee scuffle only even helps if my opponent is alone(ish) and I have many downed allies, it normally just makes me get hit. I have to admit that is rather stupid... but the Orks have that big rockit dont they? I've never used it but I would assume its more accurate than the shoota boyz one, and against a lightly armoured vehicle like a wave serpent I would think it could do SOMETHING, idk, would need to see it happen more. I didn't notice it myself, but assumed it. I have however on many occasions been a sneaky Ork and LSM. It's just harder to do when you need to use the running much more sparingly.
