Why all the grav hate?

It's quite simple, LSM exist to feed other factions with XP and easy kills and for this LSM don't need any interesting, unique weapons. How dare LSM have something that others don't have and how dare they point out that grav weaponry isn't as overpowered as some people claim?!

    On a more serious note:
The unique versions weren't necessary, the developers could have waited with putting them in until everyone had gotten used to having gravs around and the pistol version has no reason to exist at all.
While I myself do like the grav gun, I would have preferred the developers to prioritize things like pistols for fire support classes or making the garrison an actual hub for the game first. You know, things that should have been in the game at "launch".

Personally as an Eldar player I find grav weapons to be the most cancerous out of all of Space Marine arsenal.
First of all they are very universal - they work well on ground units and vehicles alike!
No matter what you do, if you find yourself in a beam its a matter of 2 seconds and you're dead, no matter what your loadout is.
Grav weaponary is pretty much the end of melee in the game.
I went up against them many times and basically even if SM starts to fire when you are 2-3 meters away from him you're done. You can swing all you want -light or heavy attacks- you will never reach him before you're dead, not even with Revered Scorpion with burning rune and 3 stamina.
If it wasn't enough they stop you in whatever direction you are going.
Maybe they feel it differently but as Eldar there is nothing worse on battlefield than a couple of guys with grav guns/cannons who know how to aim it, and its damage is just ridiculous.
They say its a support weapon but it feels like a fu**ing ultimate meat grinder.

Mostly because it is serving a purpose of an anti melee/fast armor gun. So yes the slow should be strong to encourage teamwork, but if the damage is too high then no one has to bother with teamwork and all the lsm will just use the grav gun. More dmg less slow would probably cause MORE people to use it.

Also if the slow has you down just shoot him. Orks have bad ass pistols just slab slugga dat git or sound off with a dakka slugga.

It's ironic because grav weapons should work the worst on lightly armoured Eldar, or lightly armoured anything for that matter. Their effect on vehicles is questionable because there is no kind of immobilization or critical hit system involved.

This is how Grav should work in EC:
    • Grav weapons increase in damage dealt against heavier armoured targets
    • Grav does very little damage to lightly armoured targets (Ork boyz and Eldar)
    • Remove the slow effect completely and instead apply it to vehicles
    • Grav has overtaken melta because it can also deal respectable damage to vehicles, this needs removing
    • Re-add Grav effects to vehicles when a more sophisticated vehicle damage system is added

I feel you on this note Ragescreama, but ever since the Improvised Shield came out I've been using it.

I've since switched a lot of my builds over to the dakka slugga.

    Not my favorite change.

Grav works perfectly fine on Eldar in TT. Dire Avengers/Banshees have 4+ armour saves, Scorpions/Reapers have 3+ armour saves, which means grav wounds Avengers on a 4+ and Reapers on a 3+. Those are good numbers with no armour saves allowed and still closely competitive with King Plasma.

Also, grav in TT does not cause any damage effects. It only strips a hull point on a D6 roll of 6.

    So your understanding is mistaken.

The only thing I like about grav in EC is that it slows down grav tanks, which is sorely needed due to their roadkilling sprees. But with no analogue for Chaos or Orks it seems like a weird mechanic.

Especially with no analogue in tabletop mechanics.

I honestly very rarely see anyone in my team using a grav-weapon.

But I did see a devastator use the grav cannon in PvE last time I did horde mode where it was just amazing.
  8. Chaos and Ork Ground Assaults can carry Melta Bombs increasing their factions overall AT abilities and can capture objectives.

I have Meltabombs on all of my Traitor Assaults and all of my Slugga builds. I drive around in a Trukk or Rhino taking down enemy transports, reaping Exp and vehicle kills. As I'm using Meltabombs to destroy said enemy vehicle(resupplying via back of my rhino or trukk) I can handle pretty much anything that spawns off of the enemy vehicle I'm attacking because I'm on a melee toon and it's instant melee range as players exit their MOS.

It is possible...last time i checked at least. Not advisable against eldar ofc!
  10. Galen Galen Arkhona Vanguard

That is the one!It can get a melta bomb.Just checked to be sure. But as said before against eldar its almost impossible to pull of.
With that being said LSM also get bundles.
