until they fix the issue with vehicles disappearing into the warp, I may have to stop playing that mode.
stopped queuing for them a week or two ago, they are just terribly boring and frustrating maps. Still better than a plasma cannon/starswarm by far though.
Sometimes matchmaker is hellbent on throwing me into several fortress maps in a row, at which point I disable queuing for them. I wouldn't mind them if I was put into queue for them less often. They are a refreshing change if you get them rarely, but Supremacy is a better game mode overall since you've got more choice on what to do as a team there.
This is it for me. I'm SO tired of supremacy maps and their associated irritations (people recapping instead of defending uncapped and contested points, nobody marking objectives, nobody taking out vehicles, terrible spawn locs, etc). It's actually gotten somewhat stressful and NOT relaxing. Lately I prefer the casual, mindlessness of blasting shit with a Las or plasma (or my new favorite, BURNING LIGHT CANNON).
^ I think the reasons you dislike Supremacy are the reasons I like it. Clearly highlights different people have different preferences. Also, people being noobs is something I can live with.
I like Fortress maps. The size and scale. My PC runs them fine so no problems there. Defense is just an XP farm, grab a ranged AV loadout and watch the points roll in. I'm leveling 4 new characters so I'm always looking for Fortress Defense games to get involved with. Attack is an opportunity to to try to educate the players not on the forums or Reddit how to take a Fortress. Lay it out for everyone at the start and try not to get too precious about it when both gates go down in the first 2 minutes. Explain why we will now lose and how we can avoid it next time. Some of the player's will recognise what's going on and spread the word the next time they attack a Fortress. Eventually better tactics will spread memetically.
I agree with this totally. If they fixed the frame rate drop that only occurs for me rarely it would be more incredible. I also picture this as the true 40k universe.
I usually play the first game that comes up, only recently have I learnt I can actually quit or cancel the start. But it was worse when the kannon was blowing a tank off the map. Also it's a long match, but you can get those with point take/retake missions. It certainly punishes the attacker, more so if you are a smaller group that is still filling from recruits.
I only dont play fortress when i want to play something specific that doesnt work there, like power fist, tanky stormboy (2 fuel barely get you somewhere, although if i git gud with it im pretty sure it will work fine) and other stuff that doesnt properly defend or attack considering that in defense if you die its a lost spawn and in attack if you die the push may die too, every single soldier matters
