Leave Eldar weapons as they are now, but change Eldar durability so that all melee one hits them, and 2 bolt rounds downs them. Then you have a powerful glass cannon race with no durability, that would be balanced.
Hell no, That's why base stats can't be used as only variables for Durability analysis. You have to take into consideration Armor/Thoughness AND Hitbox AND Mobility.
Numerically... The lasblaster is not exactly leagues ahead of a boltgun: (read the edit below if you want to talk hunter's mark) Going to dump some stats of hawk vs tac (I have a headache right now, but I think my math is ok ) Same LP cost lasblaster has 2.4% higher dps than the boltgun Tacs have 25% more toughness (80 vs 100) identical armour identical health ADS spread identical Hipfire Spread identical recoil on boltgun ADS is slightly higher (meaning there's a very gentle recoil, as opposed to none) recoil on boltgun hipfire is higher, im sure, but with the hipfire spread... it makes very little difference. Non-capping class vs capper Jump troop Ranged Jump troop Hitbox differences? Food for thought. I think the ranged jump troop is what people are having trouble with: the gun? not so much. EDIT: it was explained to me, despite the posts in this thread discussing hawks in general quite a lot, that the video is only to highlight the hunters mark, which is indeed far stronger than the base lasblaster I was attempting to discuss, here. In the interest of stopping people correcting me, when it has already been done, read the post on the next page where I do the hunter's mark numbers So yes, I misinterpreted the OP based on the replies, apologies.
Uhhh..did you watch the video? Like really watch it? CSM/LSM were dying in .75-1 second of fire. I've never, NEVER, died to a Bolter that fast. Not even remotely close. It's -several- leagues above a bolter right now.
The Hunter's mark or w/e the weapon being used in the video is one of those "unique" weapons found in loot crates, not the base lasblaster.
I believe the problem people have with the gun is that a single shot does 84 damage, and thus a headshot would do something to the tune of 105. On top of its first 2-3 shot accuracy it is OP in the current context. I believe it's magazine should be cut in half, or there is a .5 - 1 second delays between shots or both. And it's LP cost should be increased, and it's armor penetration needs to be reduced to 80. Also I almost exclusively play Eldar, so apparently I have to say this to shut down irrational Eldar players.
