I'd play them well if you look at the lore starting out as a bronze level necron lord could work from there you can go into a specialty by having like the destroyer curse effect you or devolving into a flayed one or just progressing up in the ranks of lords till you reach overlord or you could be a cryptek for a psyker equivilant now that I think about it most of the necron elite could work as classes as many have indepent thought up to a point depending on the unit
I love the Necrons, whats not to like about robotic skeletons who serve a grim reaper god? The thing is though, you cant play them and stick to lore. To quote Miguel Caron when asked if the Tyranids will be a playable race: "The tyranids are not a idividual character who do things alone, they are a swarm and move as one" (This is not the exact words, but as i rememberd it) The Necrons follow the same principle, they move as one, as one un flinching horde marching step by step only to fall and rise back again to take their place.
Well, the Necrons have recieved a whole new level of sentience to them. Whilst the bulk of basic troopers are still mostly automatons, Immortals and from up are all self-aware. From a gameplay perspective? We've got all the core vehicles and classes of units as any other faction, so it'd be pretty fluid/easy to translate. Add in our own unique style and you've got a solid alternative faction to play that adds to the 40K immersion,
I see the necrons as orks sorta they are basically there own horde to destroy all life while orks just wanna loot and wage war. I would still very much like to play the necrons cuz I don't see putting them with npcs like the tyranids would be any fun
Playing as Necrons would work in a game where it's 3rd person shooter/hack n slash but at the same time an RTS. Or would that be RPG? Anyways it would be like Mass Effect except you would command much more than just a few allies. (ME=RPG but DOW=RTS im confused)
The Necrons are awsome. There like a machine with a dark soul, theyhave a very supreme technology over other racers (in some aspects better then the eldar). All tho most of theme have no memory of themselfs, the elit's that was once Nobels do renember and they do have honor, not like the chaos.
The only class of necrons that is totally autonomous is the basic warrior, but there are may other classes that could work wonders on the battle field. Hell the Dimension hopping Deathmark would be one of the most enjoyable classes if worked right. I am pretty sure there are a few examples of immortals even verbally combating space marines on the field.
to be honest necrons is what drove me to warhammer that's why I like them so much is because of dark crusade
