I'm just worried that all the hype for terminators will result in them feeling they need terminators at launch and thus release them poorly.
Very well put. Specially this part: Indeed, every worthwhile 40k game has missed critical units, that's probably why we're all so eager to have every vital thing a race/chapter/legion can have on the cards for this one . Personally, regarding Space Muhreens, they can give Centurions a miss (not many seem to like them, pretty shoehorned in and I haven't seen any novels featuring them yet), but I'd like to see pretty much everything else they have. I cannot see your satisfying link, is it perhaps in a founder-only forum? Anyway, you're very probably right. We'll see in time
See, the devs knew going in balance would be hard, because lets face it, 40k isnt balanced. If there going to throw out everything that may be tricky to balance, then this game wont last long
I have to make one note, I forgot to add that EC will be in 3rd person which is a major factor and adds a plus to EC.
(I would much rather have Wraithlords (and their equivalens) in the game then Termies.) I am pretty sure Termies and such will be in the game (especially with this "reaction" from the Community,) but I don't know if it really is the best Idea. I would guess they are a ton of work, for the amount of time people are going to field them. But because they are so iconic, I am sure they will be in.
If they're anywhere near PS2's MAX resource requirements (I gather from the info around here they'll be relatively more expensive, but I can't put it into perspective yet until everything is actually playable), I'm sure people will even main them, even if it costs them having to walk a lot or switch classes often due to lack of resources. I for sure will be deep striking with THSS or LC as much as I can, specially at first And yeah, Wraithlords are a must too . That's the problem with this IP's games, us fans want to see as much content as possible in them, and will notice what's missing.
DoW and its sequel included the more iconic units of the WH40K franchise. Space Marine did not, it was incomplete, but that is excusable because the developer AND publisher went bankrupt during development, so it's surprising it got released at all. Eternal Crusade has been described as 'fully funded' by the devs and thus has no excuse.
Negative, DoW absolutely left stuff out until the sequels. I was following the development cycle, there was quite an uproar when they moved Daemon Princes out of the at-launch column for the original game But again I don't dispute that Termies are expected by me and others pre-launch. Just saying the 'complete experience' as far as 40K goes is different for everybody and no game will hit every possible note of satisfaction. Just inevitable. No excuse needed.
Completely off topic, but every part of my body always cringes when I think about the lore butchery that was the Dawn of War and it's followup books, despite having a pretty good main game...and then rapidly heading downhill in expansions. Slaaneshi worshiping Eldar who can't speak low gothic and steal human tanks, along with Space Marines with multilaser mounted tanks without so much as supply problems used to excuse the lack of proper Astartes equipment.
