?

Can you imagine EC without terminators (and their equivalents from other races)?

  1. Yes, who needs them, they're not important.

    1.9%
  2. No! I want them, I need them!

    86.2%
  3. I don't really care.

    11.9%
  1. For now there isnt any terminators, maybe not until beta.
Hopefully the 5mil comes into play here.
  2. You do know that not every Company of any Chapter has access to Terminators?
In Codex Chapters only the First Company uses Terminator Suits. It's the same with Dark Angels, their First Company is the Deathwing.
The only Chapter I know of that allows all of its companies access to Terminators is the Space Wolves Chapter, and not all Great Companies use them all the time. (Sorry. Not sure about BA, especially with a new Codex coming.)

With Chaos Warbands, they may not have access to Terminator suits.

You can't currently come up with a Lore reason for Terminators being available at Arkhona from the start.
In fact they could turn up later and the Lore can back them up doing that.
  3. Hello everyone, I just made an account now after lurking for a while. When I saw the game and read the FAQ I was going straight to buy a founder's pack, but then I decided to look at the forums and saw this thread. And now the post that says that, after all, terminators are not confirmed. As it's my favourite unit in all of 40k, I'll probably hold off in buying a pack until I see a model of it ingame or confirmation... Lest it never appears like in Space Marine. In that case I'll probably wait until alpha/beta starts.

Yes, but First Companies from codex-adhering chapters have the custom of sending their veterans to other companies, as sergeants or veteran squads when needed. Plus the myriad of non-codex chapters who do whatever they want with their assets :p

I wonder how will this affect Eldar. Is wraithguard/blade also dropped out. And it would be very strange to see Iyanden without them..

If we just have to find excuses, sure...lore reasons, awful GW, bad community that didn't give enough money to the founder program, astrological conditions, world's economy, greenhouse phenomenon...

In truth, lore has nothing to do with this...unless they are also forcing hard population caps on chapters, they change apothecary into elite or hero unit, and take back every lore bending decision up till now.

  8. Plain and simple, you can't have a complete WH40K experience without the iconic units the game. Terminators and their equivalent are some of the most iconic things in WH40K. It's been advertised from the start, we bought it under the assumption that they would be in the game, so unless they put it in the game we are perfectly entitled to refund (at least under UK Law, not sure about other countries).

If they launch the game without terminators and their equivalent units, then they have launched an incomplete game. If they claim it's the finished product, then they have failed to represent the WH40K universe and should be boycotted by everyone with any respect for the IP.

Needless to say, I very much doubt they'll leave terminators and their equivalent units out of the game, there are genuine 40k fans on the bE team who will make the importance of these units clear. I don't expect to see them in the alpha/beta/whatever they decide to call early access modules, but for every day after launch that Terminators and their equivalent are not in the game is another failure that will smack the credibility of anything bE promise in the future in the metaphorical teeth.
  9. I would assume so, but you're right that such a case would be somewhat bizarre.

I'm wondering if there isn't an implied "but they're very, very likely" attached to Brent's "No, they are not confirmed at this time." With as heavily as TEQ's featured in earlier discussions, it seems as though something has pushed them to the "might or might not" line, but I can't imagine the game will launch without them.

I also seem to recall Miguel stating several Twitch's ago that the game will only launch when they're satisfied with what they're giving us. I suspect, and rather hope, that even if it pushes launch back slightly they work through whatever issues TEQ's are giving them before release. I suppose the question now becomes: "what is the nature of whatever issue bE has encountered that puts Termies-for-launch in doubt." Even if they aren't sure we can have them for launch, I'd at least like to know why they are now in question.

    Wraithguard/Wraithblades.

Balance is indeed a moving target but they get plenty of time to aim between now and launch. Brent & his team has been working on making TEQs practical for a long time (check this link out, it's pretty satisfying :D) and the balance seems fair and additive in the gameplay dynamic as we understand it. My intuition tells me it's something else, and that something is probably ensuring they can be portrayed correctly in the at-launch environment.
You can ask but others have been (in extremely creative ways :p), publicly and in PM and so far BHVR are resistant to get into the minutia. That's not to say they won't go into the process soon but they're probably assessing the entirety of the potential features list as a whole and won't trickle the confirmed/excluded list out to us 1-by-1. Even for Termies :(

Point of optimism: They did protract the official class list reveal for the core 19 classes in a similar way (Eldar/Orks in-particular). Eldar classes aren't as popular as TEQs are to either LSM or CSM so it was a quieter tempest but if you followed their threads in the months before the list went live it was chaotic and raging (quietly and in a dignified Xenos manner. Uncultured Mon-Keigh). Some members were offering their Soulstones for certain Aspects to be included in what we thought was going to be a list of 4. They were pleasantly surprised in the end I think. Hopefully that's the trend line conclusion here.
Just a wee bit hyperbolic. ^ I'm a lover of THQ's Space Marine and the DoW games, both of which failed to represent the WH40K universe fully to my satisfaction and ignored significant core units/classes (dream killers ! :()

Have me on board with the whole refund opportunity, and Terminators have been a solid part of the vision since the start. I'm skeptical whether it can be argued that the Founders pack was ever advertised as a complete list of features guaranteed to make launch delivery or simply as a chance to support the project and vision in development, tumultuous as that experience may be, with some exclusive rewards piled on. But anyway: Perception of value, and what breaks it, isn't universal. I'm still confident they'll be confirmed soon.
