Who Is The Best Primarch?

Yeah, I have the Ebook along with Betrayer and the Word Bearers Omnibus, they are my second favorite legion after the Emperors Children.

Both of those books actually explore the other Legions in pretty big detail despite the Word Bearers still being it's focus.
  2. Yeah, I especially loved "Betrayer". I have listened to them all in audio book form, had forgotten that part with Sev, however.

Angel Exterminatus is still the best one though. Second favorite was unremembered empire, then Talon of Horus.

Fulgrims always got first place in my heart, but Angel Exterminatus still does do pretty good. But Angel Exterminatus isn't nearly as interesting to me as the short stories it spawned like Chiriurgeon, Imperfect, and Lucius the Eternal Blade. What happens with the actual Angel Exterminatus is not nearly as cool as the repercussions it creates for the third legion.

Unless you're reading it for the Iron Warriors, it has hands down the best portrayal of Perturbo.
  4. Interesting. I haven't listened to any of the above mentioned books. I'll have to get on that! (I do so love my Slaaneshi warriors)
  5. Sadly agreed. I definitely liked the book, but McNeill has run into this issue where he keeps overburdening himself with storylines. The progression of the Emperor's Children, Iron Warriors and Shattered Legions could have all made for their own stories without too much trouble, but as it stood they just seemed a little underdeveloped.

Sanguinius Definitely, His only was flaw if it were considered one he was too humble, even his hair was perfect.

  7. I still can't believe people are still arguing this point. You DO realize there was a canon moment when the "best" primarch was chosen, right? All the primarchs were there... and the emperor. It was at Ulinor, ring any bells? It was Horus, how can anyone possibly argue when this was actually already decided in the fluff by Games-workshop? Come on peeps... it's in the books!

(Before everyone starts shouting about Chaos not counting and such, remember this was pre-heresy when all of the primarchs were still good guys doing good guy things...)

Sanguinius was genetically flawed, a flaw that kept him loyal to the Emperor purely out of 'perfect fear' as Lorgar put it.

He was top tier certainly, but Horus still clearly wins.

Many could and would argue that Horus was granted Warmaster because he was the 1st Primarch found and because of this became the Emperor's favorite.

Nowhere did the Emperor say Horus was the best of them. The exact quote is:
"You are like a son and together we have all but conquered the galaxy. Now the time has come for me to retire to Terra. My work as a soldier is done and now passes to you for I have great tasks to perform in my earthly sanctum. I name you Warmaster and from this day forth all of my armies and generals shall take orders from you as if the words came from mine own mouth. But words of caution I have for you, for your brother Primarchs are strong of will, of thought and of action. Do not seek to change them, but use their particular strengths well. You have much work to do for there are still many worlds to liberate, many peoples to rescue. My trust is with you. Hail Horus! Hail the Warmaster!"

Also not all of the Primarchs were at Ullanor, only 9; Horus Fulgrim Sanguinius Mortarion Magnus Angron Khan Lorgar and Dorn.

  10. I still maintain that the act itself, regardless of how people wish to try to dissect that act, is evidence of my argument. However people wish to say it, the emperor put his faith in Horus and he was (numerous times) referred to as the "first among equals".
