I'm really hoping in this that a guild doesn't represent a clan or chapter but has to sign up to an in game clan or chapter (which will be made up of multiple guilds and even solo players). I don't mind a guild being "Space Wolves, designation XIIIth talon" and thus being a battle force within the Space Wolves, but I don't want to see anyone claiming to represent a Chapter in it's entirety.
I agree. And the only people that will be trying to claim an entire Chapter designation will be kids and such. Those units will come and go pretty rapidly. The long standing clans will have their own designations. For instance the clan I play with is Raven Lunatics in every game but we choose an appropriate unit for the game. In SM, we're the Raven Lunatics/Soul Drinkers. I'm sure when we get in the mix here... it will be Raven Lunatics/Whatever we choose. Some clans will go with company designations. I'm sure we will have groups fighting over 1st company or 3rd company designations and it will be a matter of reputation and clan size that will determine who the community acknowledges.
I do agree with what someone said earlier, Sisters of Battle should be highly considered simply for the fact that only one of the four launch races will even have females to choose from and even then the Eldar aren't exactly known for using squads of women, they are by far the minority in Eldar forces. This basically means that for any women that enjoy actually playing for their own gender, it's basically one type of Eldar or you're a man and you have to like it.
Just give the Imperial Guards the skill to summon/teleport in 4-5 Guardsmen(Not real player but just AI that follows you around Maybe even have you playing as Sergeant) then you wouldn't have to go 1v1 with the other race and having abit of a chance in Melee? If a Space marine charge in for a Melee against a few guards, sure he'l maybe take down 2-3 but if you play right and equipped your squad properly I don't see them having problem taking down SM or any other race? just stand back and shoot while his busy trying to take down others even if he take down all your squad by the time he gets to you, his shield/Life or whatever they're using would properly be pretty low by then Or if they come after you first just run/dodge/roll and let your squad shoot them down? now imagine IG grouping up together with the other players and summon there squad, 2 player would mean 10 guardsmen, 3 would mean 15 and so on now that would be annoying to take all of them down or trying to find the real player and would make you think twice before charging into that lol (maybe when you die your squad would retreat, or just keep on fight but with they morale gone making them panic?) and 1 last thing I know that a skilled SM could easily take down a whole squad of guardsmen if base on the lore or whatever But this is a game, so that mean it require YOUR skill as a player, if your skilled enough you can take a whole squad down but if your not good enough.. then well yeah, back to training? lol Anyway that's just a theory I thought would be pretty cool for them, and would love to have IG in since they are kinda a big part in the 40k universe, what do you guys think?
I agree, I really want Sisters of Battle to be involved, I am sick of the complete lack of attention that Games Workshop has shown them, the digital exclusive codex is a pathetic attempt to get us to pay £42 for a squad of 10 IMO. Wait a minute, Miriael? you're the traitor Sister! burn in the name of the Emperor!
Either the Inquisition or (gods forbid!) the Adeptus Mechanicus. That's right, I went there. Would love to play as an adept outfitted with combat upgrades and unique, ancient technologies you can't get anywhere else, defending mechanicus installations or conducting raiding parties into enemy lines to secure lost technologies.
You might have misunderstood me, If I have 10 groups of players all wanting to be the Ultramarines then who is actually the Ultramarines? We can't have 10 different instances of the Ultramarines.
I do too. But if the Guard comes first you can still play an Guardswomen that is trying to mimic them! But in general i want every Main Faction in this Game.
I do understand what you mean, what I was aiming at was in the beginning (before they released codexes for different chapters) codex SM was a generic space marine rule set based around the Ultramarines, there were special characters in the back of 2 or 3 different chapters, and the only difference between say the Ultramarines and the Salamanders was the paint job and the special characters that could be fielded. I wasn't saying everyone would be an Ultramarine but that the Ultramarines were bog standard generic marines and every chapter codex there after used them as a rule basis and added strengths and weaknesses to that basis.
