This poll is interesting. I always thought Tzeentch and Khorne are the big two fan favorites, yet Nurgle is at second place. Maybe it is because of what I heard about Tzeentch being crap in TT. His attitude towards his employees is also not helping his case. Undivided is lower than I expected, while Malal has a lot more votes than I suspected. Are people drawn to his anarchic nonsense or to the black-white color scheme? Slaanesh is second last. I am not surprised. Only few have the self-confidence, sophistication and depravity necessary to follow the Serpent.
Although I too have been wondering why Nurgle is so popular for a while, the main source of confusion for me is the fact that Slaanesh is only slightly ahead of a copyright issue that has been ignored by the company that's responsible for Warhammer. Maybe it's because I don't see anything particularly interesting in Malal to bother looking at it from a new perspective, but still all Chaos Gods have their own appeal to me in their own ways, however, one of them seems to be unpopular enough he has to keep up just to be ahead of Malal. That's a somewhat sad day for me.
It is also interesting, because one week ago, Tzeentch was on place 1, followed by Slaanesh, I really like how it constantly rebalances. Just like the powers of the Chaosgods
I'm surprised Malal is even included on the list. I mean, I think it's time to let go and move on Malal lovers... he doesn't exist anymore. Besides, Chaos loves dicking itself over way too much anyway, he's sort of been cut up and divided into 4 portions as it is. Obviously I voted for Slaanesh. Reasons being: a) All the gods are driven by their desires, fluff wise Slaanesh will eventually be the most mighty of them all, because he will subvert all the worship. Makes sense to back the winner right? b) Slaanesh has no overly obvious weaknesses. He's badass at combat and magic equally. c) He's essentially the Chaos god of civilization. Wouldn't be much time for music and art if everybody is too busy trying to catch that woolly mammoth to feed their tribe etc. d) If appropriate; She's totally a babe. e) If appropriate; He's totally a hunk. f) Both d and e. g) He can be almost as sneaky as Tzeentch, almost as mighty as Khorne and presumably almost as morbid as Nurgle. It's like he has the best of all the aspects, but because he isn't as 'focussed' on those traits, they aren't weaknesses.
I think you've taken my post way too seriously to want to individually refute each point. But your answer to a is patently false because it's outright said in the fluff that the gods have an unease to Slaanesh because they think he will ascend to be higher than them. Says so in the previous Daemons of Chaos army book, and little references are littered around the place in the current codex too. I know, it might be a shock to non slaanesh devotee's (but relax, since it's written in the Slaanesh section, it's clearly a biased source... but we're all biased lol) I think it's ironic though that you claim that I misunderstand the nature of chaos though as the Chaos gods gain their power from all emotion and emotional drives. Whether they ask Slaanesh, or Tzeentch or whatever in the first place is completely besides the point. That's what makes Chaos so fluffily awesome, it's that sense of no matter what you do you're going to be boned. Speaking of boned though; I would totally bone Slaanesh, disproving your point.
