Where Do You Think The Story Arc Of 40k Should Go?

Currently in the time line we are at a stalemate in the 13th black crusade, Tau is expanding to the East(?), Nids are attcking from above and below the galactic plane (like jaws, mayhaps?), Eldar are weakened after helping defend Cadia, Impirum is spread thin, Orks are everywhere fighting everything, the Necrons are awakening in expoential numbers, the Golden Throne is failing, the Astronomican is weakening, and humanity is faultering on the edge of permanent darkness.
What do you think will happen next?

Probably a new timeline will come into existence, as GW found they amputated both their legs with Necron and Tyrannids.

I mean, seriously, two galaxy-ending species coming about? The way I see it, they'll to flesh out the time between the Heresy and the 41st millenium and either come up with a completely new 41st millenium or end the official canon.

Well, they could come up with a deus ex machina, to reduce the threat of the Tyranid and Necron _significantly_ (say, the Emperor dies and returns), but the only sensible way would be to end this. It's been 26(?) years now and the fleshing out would take another 5-10 years at least. 30+ years for one universe is a pretty good run in my book.

But that's only me and I don't make any money of it, so...

Just because the emperor comes back doesn't mean all the enemies of man spontaneously explode into burning cinders.

Yes the emperor and the primarchs were all very powerful, but they are not omnipotent and neither are the chaos gods or the eldar gods or anyone's gods.

Unless they plan to end 40k with complete annihilation and oblivion of everything, the inhabitants of that universe will still live one, their will still be conflict, wh40k can become wh41k and that whole schmick with the emperor catching a cold will just be a page of history.
  4. It's fiction. In all fiction... you can make a way for it to work. They can write that Nids and Crons are ULTIMATE and EVERYTHING WILL END, but when it's all said and done... all it takes is for Graham McNeil to tell the story of Lord Owns Like a Boss who dramatically ends the imminent threat with the aid of the mysterious power from the Empruh... So... no need to panic... 40k has all it's arms and legs...

I know they can do that. But such a thing would shred the last bit of credibility and respect from me, hence I hope they seek to solve this conundrum in a... less obvious way. And I just can't see a way to get out of that corner in a plausible way by continuing.

I know it's WH40k and as such it is ridiculous anyways, but still. I hope, you guys understand what I want to say :)

Just would like to point out that (and I don't say this because I play Chaos in everything Warhammer :D) but the Chaos gods are "Omnipotent" since their energy literally comes from the feelings and emotions of (I forgot if it was just humans or all races?) either way they are beings brought together by raw energy and emotion and formed themselves in the Warp, so long as there is feelings and emotions in the galaxy then the Chaos Gods are fine, even then I'm sure they have become so powerful that it wouldn't matter if it stopped because they also gain power from those that worship them and since Chaos Space Marines has all teh Cults forever and evuh then the Chaos Gods are indeed OMNIPOTENT. And seriously if someone posts "Oh well just stop emotions" yeah okay good luck with that.
  7. Stop emotions? Use a Nexus Arrangement like in the Dark Creed book in the Word Bearers Omnibus. I reckon that the Necrons could build some giant network of Nexus Pylons or something across the galaxy, blocking out the connection between the Warp and real space, thus cutting off the Dark Gods from their "food" supply, ending the influence of Chaos on the galaxy. Would work a charm against the Great Devourer too. This of course, would have to be in a Necron dominated galaxy- unless of course, we let Mat Ward make the ending... Imperium/Necrons bro-fist 4 eva!

    Reference bolded.
Im no nid player but they cause a "shadow in the Warp" and are not auctualy a part of it. Infact they would more likly act like Necron Pylons then be effected by them. They have no emotions and no "mind" that relects on the Warp, and its prob their numbers that cause the shadow effect, being that they are still alive and "thinking" to a degree.

Sorry but i disagree haha. They are not Omnipotent, powerful yes, all knowing, no. They know ALOT lol, but not everything everyware at all time. They are attracted to strong emotions, and their own followers. They have the power, should they choose to use it, to directly watch somthing in real space when they sense other things happening. Eldar caused the birth of a major Chaos God, so its not just humans who effect it, i would say all races do but primarly the one that is prodomiate in the Galaxy, thus them having the highest numbers. Should the eminations of massive amounts of neagive (mostly) emotions stop then indeed the Chaos Gods would lose power in the warp and could, hypotheticaly, be killed/bansished/disolved/ or fragmented. Think of what the Emperor did to Hourus soul after he saw that his son had truely fallen, but only vs the Chaos Gods in the Warp. A Rebirth would always be possiable, but not nessicarly in the same incarination and only with the right prerequites met. In the time of the Old Ones there were no "Chaos Gods", the warp and the emotions therein existed but there was not enough emotion from the Material Plane for it the collect into conscience beings of any real power/danger.
  9. Quite true, the shadow does act like the Pariah effect. But the link between the Nids and their Hive Mind is purely Psychic. It isn't out of the question that the nexus could sever this link.
  10. Are you trying to imply the plot will EVER get advanced?

    Good joke brah.
