Where does it say the legion was entirely destroyed. I know one primarch was but I don't remember seeing anything about the whole legion.
Pretty sure that the fake Word Bearer theory is about as valid as every other fake theory. Still, with all the shady shit, fanaticism, and wanton butchery of the Great Crusade, got to wonder what the Emperor actually thought the Line was that they crossed. Probably one refused the Emperor as their ruler of mankind and the other was some sort of deviant/mutated to holy hell. Or maybe they both lacked a Y chromosome.
They weren't destroyed, but broken and shattered by the conflict. Had the Black Legion been even more aggressive in the campaign, I could easily see the Emperor's Children being wiped out after their were initially crippled.
We seem to have switched topics. It started as one of the lost legions. You said it was destroyed entirely but I don't remember that being explicitly stated.
How are we going to destroy this legion tonight Inquisitor Brain? The same thing we do every other night, Servitor Pinky. Try to Exterminatus the world!
For any of you interested in the progress of the story, here's a summary of what I have so far, after merging some of the ideas I've read; The Dark Apostles of the Legion have a shared vision of their primarch, Lorgar, manifesting on an unnamed world that resides in the galactic north west. They gather the Legion and make pilgrimage to this world, and upon arrival, they realize it's Colchis restored, and even the City of Grey Flowers is intact. Heralding this as a sign from the Gods, the Legion quickly makes planet fall and settles within the city, awaiting the arrival of their gene sire. Representatives of other Legions arrive, hoping to witness the resurrection of a Primarch, which would aid immensely in the effort to tear apart the Imperium. A year passes. Thousands of slave slaves have been sacrificed, yet to no avail. Doubt begins to fester amongst the Legion. Their desperation and angst grows as they approach their second year within Vharadesh. As the Dark Apostles brood over the implications of their vision, a fleet enters the space above the world. It's a massive wave of Ork Roks, which begin to speed towards the planet. Behind them warp in two massive vessels, the Craftworlds of Ulthwe and Saim-Hann, which dedicate their weaponry on the Chaos fleet orbiting Colchis. A third fleet arrives, a Segmentum fleet of the Imperium, which joins in the destruction of the Chaos fleet as they and the Eldar begin to land ground troops after the Orks have made impact. A host of millions descends on the Word Bearers, with the Orks leading the vanguard as they rush towards the greatest fight the galaxy has seen in thousands of years. Orks and Eldar have worked alongside the Imperium before, so I figured that for the sake of wiping out a Chaos Legion, the three could come to terms. The story will resolve around a fractured warband as they struggle to hold off the endless tide of flesh and steel send to eradicate them from the face of existence. I'll post chapters as they come along, which may take a while, since the semester is approaching finals week.
