Yeah, that's not how money works. You're still paying the exact same number of salaries as you were when those people were working on cosmetics, and most of the people working on cosmetics probably aren't engineers, so they couldn't be transferred to programming. UE4 allows a certain amount of engineering from art and design people but you still need trained programmers to set that functionality up.
  2. My Salespitch would be:
-Third Person Shooter with good progression and customization and Vehicles.
-Set in the Warhammer40k world, doing it justice.
-4 Playable very different Races (different amount of classes, unique mechanics), two of them never playable before in a shooter.
-Melee and Ranged and Psychicpowers combat in the same game, something that has almost never been attempted before in this genre.
    -PvP and PvE

-Unique Gameplay and Mechanics coming from the before mentioned features.
    Powerfists
    Jetpacks
    Shields
    Meltaweapons
Flying and gliding ranged harrasers that can drop grenades.
    Stealth
    Banshees.

That is way more then most shooters offer.

I am really glad for this topic. It makes us realize how much great unique things EC still has. Thanks Zael.

Not sure why, but I just imagined the sales department copy pasting your pitch and sending it to advertising to make into a shiny, dazzling poster!

Don't forget Unreal 4 and breathtaking visuals. Different environmental biomes and weather effects. "Choose your role", gameplay divided into classes with unique specialities, from supporting, to capturing objectives to laying down heavy gunfire. To cherry all of it... an actively moving direction from match-based gameplay to larger-scale open world roaming and constant development with free content patches (these are things other shooters also do not do. There is usually no plan to move larger scale, and content is only released in DLC's).
    Neo and Crepidus like this.

Hahahaha laughted my ass of! All this stuf already was in game. Different factions? For now even eldars got same animation. All this powers that look like one straight beam (different color beam) and this perfect wepon stuff that already was in other games. Yep this is MASTERPIECE!

Your question assumes that no salesman ever sold an average product for an average price to average people who gives average attention. It's wrong. It also assumes that Eternal Crusade is average, which is, then, just an opinion and not a fact which you can feel and which I don't.

What they will say is anything that sets them apart. No single saleman would give you the details of what is common between its product and others, and when asked about it, they will tell you what's different and better.

Anything from best graphic, more bucks for your money, better game support, competitive gameplay, etc. etc.

The thing is it is perfectly possible for a game that would be average on everything to sell the good graphics to those that play other games that have better game support but bad graphics, than sale better support to games with great graphic that have bad support, etc. etc.

And, thought the promise of future content seems illusory to you, it is an actual asset to offer more game support and development in the future.

The word, similar, means nothing. I played space marines, it was "similar alright". In terms of other MMO shooter set in 40k universe...well enlighten me. A shooter were I get to play an ork...mmm...

Most games are rarely a complete novelty, a lot are slight improvements over a number of aspects or some other minor details that when all put together makes for a more interesting product. (DOTA, DOTA2, LoL, HotS). They still all have their own market and target audience and fanbase etc. etc.

Lower price and free, mmm I don,t know many low priced/free games that were so enjoyable that I happened to play them for 10 years. I'm not saying they can't be good but are they better? the only free game I've ever played was LoL. In fact, in my case ( I know I'm only speaking for myself but in the end we all are), price doesn't matter. Quality and game support matters. If they keep to their 3 months expansions, man, that is a HUGE deal for me.

    You should buy EC if:

    • you like wh40k
    • you like shooters in general with skill based gameplay
    • like to be able to have a good melee system working in parallel to a shooter
    • you like playing in a multiplayer environment
    • you like a game that gets free expansions and development each 3 months with full support
    • prefer to play games from which devs are fairly close to the player base

that's for launch, post launch, you may add for those that like strategic planning, variety of missions in a shooter, etc.

I could go on and on about loot, assymetric balance, dakka dakka, etc.

Maybe put your trust into Nathan who helped develop Eve online which has bee quite successful, not too mention the "almost 100" other programmers they currently have working to polish, create and push more and more content to the UAT for us to test and give feedback on.
Don't panic and jump off the bridge just because your 401k took a 1 month hit. Give it time before you freak out.
    Franky say RELAX

Ok. You should realy stop this. It could be dangerous to laught so much.
