I've heard it stated that our "home" will be a personal living quarters upon one of our races ships. It would be used to showcase our glories and achievements. What else will it contain though? Paintings mounted up which are really stylized screenshots you took? A pool table? Air hockey? One of the things I'd really like to see is servants and more of them the more you achieve. Not just walking around and bowing to you though, servants that can affect gameplay. Like they are who you go to upgrade your armor, you give it to them and they take it off to go get fixed/upgraded. Yet having them stuck with the role of merchants seems too lame for this action packed game. So you should also be able to order them to make planetfall and affect the world below. You could give them the task of collecting resources or gathering troops to help fortify one of your bases. Every time you send them to the planet however, theyre very much at risk of death since theyre but weakling servants. The ability to give all your servants names to make them more original rather than 30% of people having a servant named Jarulek. Being able to upgrade your servants themselves with mechanic or mutation replacements. These are all things that I'd like to see and if it hasn't already been addressed, id like to hear what you guys think.
I'm hoping for a closet with all of your "clothes" in it. Clothes being special armor, weapons, gear. Also, a trophy case, or something to place things of this nature (prayers, artifacts, etc.). I don't know if I can see a need for a butler/servant. I'd rather have a chest opening mechanism for storage. Maybe flags/banners on the walls, maybe trophy heads (for Chaos players). I assume that they plan on players being able to add on artificer sectors, other crafting stations within your quarters. So the vanilla cot will be pretty small. I think our political/military leaders should have special quarters. These could display their achievements, and past leaders achievements as well. Could be statistics, or campaign victory signets. Could be other, more interesting things; titles like Battle Hero, so that a leader could be remembered after his term is up.
If there is going to be servitors (servants in 40k) that are walking around the battlefield there is going to be a lot Grimaldus-like people a out there. Also they may get in the way of a huge fight. I don't want to be beating the shit out of someone then have some random servitor get in the way and break it up like a ref. on a football field.
Omg having servitors and other slave creatures to cater to your faction would be really cool, (I.e. Grots, Heretics, Servitors, and I guess the Eldar have Automated AI or something?
It was mentioned by the devs that bases would already have some sort of automated defense system. So it could just beef up the amount of defenses the base has. There wouldn't be any humans running around on the battlefield.
The Eldar have psychically attuned everything in their living space. A desire for quiet rest would dim the lights, reveal glittering stars on the ceiling, and nullify outside noises. A thought to ready for the day opens a closet and slowly 'wakens' the room's lights, temperature and everything else. As far as 'servants' they do not have a need for such, but these psychic amenities work through the Infinity Circuit and the fact that all of their craft are built out of psychically active materials. For personnel that they could send as ground troops? I'm not sure how necessary that would be for the game, and they have no such thing lore-wise, but I suppose they could represent this by having Guardians under your 'command' on the ground even though that doesn't really work. As per 'there wouldn't be any humans running around,' NPC defenders are likely to be present and as such, you should expect there to be little humans running around. (and little heretics, and little grotz and little guardians) However, the mechanic for their appearance has not been illustrated very much yet, and they are apparently only going to be a minor shortstop defense when there's no army in the area so that enemies can't literally waltz into your base and take it without having to stomp some skulls in first. My source is the eleventh bullet point of this post.
I want hooded servants and the like in my spacecraft, but limited only to the spacecraft itself. There, I can name them and have them help me in various tasks that I'd rather not have to spend hours doing myself - like crafting. In addition, and I've mentioned this before in a crafting thread, but I'd like to see special animations unique to each of them as they imbue you with armor, sacred rites, ect. I'd also like my personal quarters central to my share of the in game economy and logistics - where, like here, I can read the latest alerts and instantly become aware of what's been going on since the last time I was online. Various UI elements would be awesome as well, such as one of your servants alerting you to certain events going on in the world, hints, objectives, or important backstory as you play. Perhaps even various quotes and hymns should you go AFK...
Ill have a room, it will have 5 marines in it, we will have our own beds, and for the sake of things we will have one plague marine to convert us all following the next morning.
They dont have to fight at all. I was thinking more along the lines of Mass Effect 2. In ME1 you would make planetfall in a tank and drive around to find minerals to upgrade your ship. In ME2 it would show the planet and you would shoot a drone to do the work for you. So in EC you would tell your heretic servant to go recruit some followers. No one would ever see him on the planet but you would be told that he was there, recruiting heretics. Then you'd either be told that he died or managed to recruit some heretics. Those heretics would be more in the form of points, invisible to all players, and the # of points would determine how many actual NPCs would be present at bases. Or possibly the heretics could come in the form of more servants to make everything they do on your ship go by faster. I'd just like more than a servant who does as much as the nurses in pokemon games.
