    T
he violent and cruel avatar of Chaos, Varduk, has finally assembled a warband of unimaginable size. Heralding from the defected Royal Specters Space Marine chapter, Varduk has spent centuries fighting the long war with his despicable brethren. Clawing his way from the bottom, the tortured soul has gained the passing whim of the Chaos Gods, imparting in him an unfathomable, supernatural charisma, as well as superhuman strength, even for a Space Marine. His long trail of blood has attracted tens of thousands of acolytes, desperate to prove their favor in his eyes. No longer concerned with quelling internal dissent, nor with preforming petty sacrifices just to survive, Varduk has gained enough of Host to set out on a vile strike outwards, into Imperial Space. Champions of Chaos from across the Eye come to him seeking favor and a chance to prove their devotion the Ruinous Powers, and with the onset of the 13th Black Crusade, the cries of millions will echo out, and the fate of Cadia itself hangs in the balance.

    The Players
Each player shall take the place of a critical role within Varduk's warband. The game shall proceed in turns, with the OP, myself, playing the part of narrator, as well as Varduk. During each phase, each player be confronted with a choice; the choice being what to dedicate their resources on. At the start of the turn, each player must allocate points into the following categories:

    • I need Sacrifices!: Enough of these games! The Dark Gods thirst for blood and flesh, and we shall render unto them. The forces under the leader's command shall ignore battles and objectives, and instead focusing on assaulting civilian centers to amass prisoners for sacrificing. The more points, the larger the sacrifice, and the more favor their patron deity gives them (in the case of Chaos Undivided, all 4 give a smaller amount of favor). In times of desperation, one's own forces can be sacrificed in the hopes of divine intervention, be it mutation and even daemonic ascension. The success of each player's action shall be determined by a die roll.
    • Kill them! Kill them all!: The player's forces focus on eradicating any trace of the enemy. They dedicate their attention t outright assault, charging forwards to amass a large kill count. This is necessary to achieve many objectives, the end result of which is improved favor from Varduk, as well as the success of the overall warband. The more points, the more killed, and the more likely a chance of success.
    • Corrupt the land: Instead of murder, your followers amass humongous shrines across the land, polluting it and allowing for the summoning of daemons and the indoctrination of cultists, as well as the attraction of Chaos Space Marines. It replenishes your forces, allowing you to focus on achieving more concrete objectives. The more points, the more replenished. The amount replenished is determined by die roll.
    • Purge this region: Even in the darkest of times, the light of the Emperor can shine through. Without proper, thorough control of a region, guerilla attacks by Imperial Guard regiments and Space Marine remnants can plague supply lines, and undo the success of chaos shrines or achieved objectives. When purging, a player's followers dedicate everything to rooting out the slaves of the Corpse Emperor, and seek to slaughter any surviving soldiers. The more points, the less chance of guerilla attacks and uprisings, as well as the increased chance of finding arcane artifacts that can improve personal power.
    • Behold our works and despair!: Despite what many Chaos Champions would desire, one cannot assault without end. It is often necessary to shore up defenses, and prepare for an enemy counter-attack. By invoking this order, a player's followers construct defenses of held territory, building turrets, trenches, buildings, and mines. This decreases the chances of a successful enemy counter-attack, which can undo objectives, and with every repulsed attack, favor with Varduk can improve. The more points, the stronger the defenses.

Additionally, each player shall hold one of the following specialties, determining their place in the warband:

    • Dark Apostle: This vile creature screeches the virtues of their patron deity, or in the case of Chaos Undivided, the true nature of Chaos as a whole. They amass millions of cultists, pathetic individually, but overpowering in numbers and fanatical devotion. Their torturous speeches attract the devotion of uncountable hordes, and they have helped Varduk achieve once unthought of heights in numbers. Each Dark Apostle gains higher charisma, and is more likely to succeed in objectives involving corrupting civilians, as well as replenishing their own forces.
    • Chaos Sorcerer: A psyker of the highest order, this chaotic follower has gathered immense magical power, capable of destroying mortals with their mere minds. They unleash foul incantations, and wield arcane artifacts that no human should ever see. A sorcerer has a higher starting Personal Power level, and is more likely to succeed finding arcane artifacts when purging an area. Chaos Sorcerers are forbidden from selecting Khorne as their patron God.
    • Aspiring Champion: One of the uncountable warriors seeking to prove themselves in the name of their dark benefactors, these zealous warriors hope to prove themselves in the field of battle so that they may advance in rank, perhaps leading their own warband, as Varduk now does. Champions have a higher chance at assaulting objectives and amassing sacrifices. They additionally start with a higher Chaos Favor value.

    Patron Gods
One cannot be a true heretic with following the advice of one of the Gods of Chaos, or all of them. Each player shall begin with either a patron God, or worship Chaos Undivided. Each God comes with their benefits and abilities, and as you gain Chaos Favor, you shall develop mutations and be imparted gifts from the Warp.

Khornates will excel in martial combat and assault actions. They begin with higher chance of succeeding in such instances, as their only desire is to kill. Additionally, they have a small chance to auto-win assault and defense actions by challenging the enemy leader to a duel and killing them. As they level up, they shall receive favors from Khorne, advancing their station and power, and doubling these abilities.

Nurglings are tough to kill, and pollute the land. They gain a higher chance of success in defense missions and corrupt missions, making it very difficult to dislodge them from their own held territory. They additionally are capable of rapidly replenishing their forces, summoning pox-infested daemons and forcing the conversion of civilians much easier. As they advance in rank, Nurgle's champions shall become increasingly deformed and even tougher to kill, as their plagues spread across the worlds they inhabit.

Tzeentchians are masters of the arcane and secret. They excel at misdirection and spellcraft, and as a result, are masters of consorting with daemons. They do well at purge missions, finding artifacts at a higher rate as well as rooting enemies out quickly, and they can additionally learn spells they can cast at the beginning of each turn, granting benefits that can vary spell to spell. Once they grow more powerful so do their spells, as well as their consorting with daemons, guiding them to ever more powerful artifacts.

Slaaneshis care for nothing but excess and pleasure. In comparison to other champions, they move quickly and with superhuman precision. Every other turn, they can preform two missions instead of one; additionally, they excel at sacrifices and can gain Chaos Favor at a higher rate as a result. As they gain power, they increase their statures and move even faster and more gracefully.

Chaos Undivided is unique in that it does not grant any unique benefits, but gives the player an overall buff on every action, albeit not to the point of specific patrons. They can gain the favor of each God, gaining all their gifts, but it takes more time and is more difficult; however, as they level up, they amass more favors, potentially even surpassing Varduk.

I have to say that this has me interested, but just want to clear some things up. So, the player themselves would a 'captain' of a certain number of personnel? And are the types of personnel we have set or can the 'unit' we control consist of things other than Traitor legionnaries? Also does the player have to be a traitor marine, because there have been sorcerers and heralds that are not before?

And last and I feel most important is the, seemingly, clear fact that you state that Undivided would be the most powerful in the end, making choosing another's would have an end result that is not as good. So if I could suggest perhaps balancing them in a way that could all have the same end result. That way you do not have everyone picking undivided for the better end result.

    @High_Adept_Zeth
Last line of the Undivided line seems to be the only one to make a statement of being able to surpass Varduk....

'They can gain the favor of each God, gaining all their gifts, but it takes more time and is more difficult; however, as they level up, they amass more favors, potentially even surpassing Varduk.'

Another suggestion, and I know by now you must be tired of them:D...is possibly allowing a player to play a subbordent of another player. I say this because there are some people who enjoy playing a second in command type, and it also lends itself for more player interaction, which maybe a point to address. When characters are all commander type units they tend to interact more with other subbordent characters played by themselves instead of each other, which is fine as I enjoy doing that sometimes. But a lot people come for the player to player interaction/socialization which is something that may not be so easy to do in a seemingly turned based system. Which brings another good question up, will a decision or choice of Kill kill kil, purge land, etc... be made after each post the players make or will there be socialization and allowing us to interact with the narratization for a while with these 'choices' every so often?

I do not want you to think I am trying to destroy your idea or change it, as this is your RP, just want to help perhaps draw in more people who maybe wondering the same things...and of course Just wanted to help out a fellow Chaos GM:D

The Sorcerer clapped "This is what I wanted to see one come out on top unlike your father Primarch hiding in the shadow not showing his face atleast I know what mine looks like. Mankind will fall without the gods aid your world your beliefs are falling around you choose the winning side." Faelar replied reluctantly. "What proof do you have." Then showed him the Angron to Magnus. "They fight with us yours are gone I will give you time to think marine we will leave this world and let you burn." After what seemed hours past by Varduk was the victor in the same position as before like he stood in front of his former Sergeant. "I win... You are mine child of the Raven now you will serve me like the rest of the Astartes, what is your name..." Faelar had only one word come to mind. "Specter..." then his journey with Varduk began starting from the bottom then rising to his Aspiring Champion status.
