The idea that the Tyranids are primitive is possibly a misconception generated by the social standards of bestial natures being considered inferior. Make no mistake, the extragalactic hive may just be the most biologically and psychically advanced race that the galaxy is ever seen. As for the Hive Mind's interaction with Warp energy? Perhaps it would be more to consider the Hive Mind itself a Warp God, generated from the entire conciousness of the Tyranid mind, while our local gods are but generated from a small portion of the Human, Eldar and other soul-bearing races' psyches. And please, any Tzeentchian who crushes hope, dashes ambition or ceases intrigue is an inadequate follower of the Architect of Fate.
A warp deity for tyranids would depend entirely on the nature of the lesser beings themselves. If hormogaunts and their equals are capible of upward emotional thought towards their overlord, then it is possible that ripples in the warp might stir from them. If, in fact, the thought is cast down from the Hive mind itself, then it may just be a really advanced biological entity that has evolved a defense against the warp itself... Possibly out of the fleshmemories gained by devouring the sentient beings of other galaxies. However, there is another debate about if the tyranids are coming out of hunger or running from something. If it's running from something, perhaps, ironically, it could be the vengeful hunger of a god the race had inadvertently created out of it's uncontrollable gluttony... Perhaps.. The Eldar may have something in common with them...
You're overstating the psychic capability of the Tyranids. In individuality, Tyranids are feral creatures - and they are quick to revert to little more than cattle when removed of their leadership. The overwhelming majority of the Tyranids therefore, the 99% so to speak, are sheep: lacking deep thought, probably even lacking self-consciousness. Their leadership are likely sentient creatures similar in capability to the Mon'keigh - capable of introspection - but lacking the refinement of a true race such as the Eldar. Yet, even the Orks and the Mon'keigh field more potent psykers than Tyranids - able to project their psychic will as a projection of force, or the manipulation of their foes. In essence, the Tyranids are not an intelligent species, except through the sheer enormity of data they collectively collect and process - they see, they listen, they touch - but they likely do not understand and reflect as the other races do. The shadow they cast upon the warp is therefore formed not of emptiness, but of incalculable noise - it is of incredible psychic density - not a void of psychic emanation. A density of communication so profound we cannot comprehend it - but they are not the racial equivalent of a psychic blank. Yet, despite the enormity of information being shared - so much that it blots out the Chaos gods and baffles the Eldar and Imperial psykers alike - it is not of equal quality to the psykers of other races. The Tyranids, even in psychic capability, are the apex of quantity over quality. This is why a single Farseer can - through her individual psychic will alone - confuse and divert an entire Tendril Fleet into not noticing a massive planet with a considerable psychic signature (likely the entire reason they traveled to that star; being careful not to spoil the plot). To use an ancient Mon'keigh analogy. Their crude ancient AWACS aircraft had electronic countermeasures capable of jamming enemy communication by simply flooding the sky with garbled noise on every frequency until no communication or sensors of any kind worked. As is typical of the Mon'keigh solutions - it is effective, but unbearably crude in design. This is comparable to the shadow in the warp that the Tyranids project: not an absence of psychic power, but an incomprehensible mass of meaningless chatter on every psychic frequency. By contrast, more advanced Mon'keigh solutions were able to communicate even through the jamming - through a precise and refined solution - this is as the Eldar psychically communicate: we are effective, eloquent, and efficient - but not verbose. The only psychic advantage the Tyranids hold, is not one of intelligence or capability - but of the sheer unfathomable billions of billions that flood into our galaxy. They are not a god, any more than a Planet may be regarded as the God of Pebbles. The Tyranid are a very large creature, little more.
Unfortunately we seem to be thinking of Tyranids in a somewhat different light. I view Tyranids as an artificial race, not one bound by the "random chance," of capability nor power. To compare their mass-produced constructs to the height of their capabilities may lead to a fallacious argument, is it not true that even "Mon'Keigh," are capable of producing weapons that threaten even those of the fractured Eldar in raw power or ability, yet the majority of their equipment pales in comparison even to those of the young Tau? Gaze upon the Doom of Malan'tai, a creature of such horrific psychic capability that it performed a feat well beyond what most Eldar could even consider themselves capable, without assistance from a bestial, instinctual hive. Unless we are to ignore such instances as simple chance, then we have every reason to suspect that the Tyranids possess the capabilities to generate psychic focus and power of an equal, if not greater calibre than even those on the Path of the Seer. However, for whatever reason, likely in the name of efficiently picking the galaxy clean (they are starving, after all, such is the fate of a being that sustains itself off a collection of biological constructs that require an incalculable quantity of food), they have chosen not to. As for your claim that Tyranids bear no deep thought. Does this make a difference? The greenskins, individually, possess a far greater psychic potential than the majority of Humanity, yet they bear very little intelligence. In all honestly it seems a rather... Incomplete argument that deep meditation and an intelligent conciousness is required to harness the Immaterium with any significant capability. If anyone intends to continue this rather... Enlightening? Heretical? Whichever moniker you would attribute to this conversation, I shall be absent for the next Terran half-cycle.
To create powerful weapons is a trivial thing for our people, we restrict ourselves to swords and guns to keep war sporting. Simply murdering the lesser races is not effective in displaying our mastery of war: and that is our true goal, to hone mastery, to restore Khaine, to birth Ynnead, to consume Slaanesh, to transcend existence. If we truly disliked the lesser races, any given super heavy Void Spinner is capable of terraforming a planet to our chosen specifications in a single shot. We typically use them for creating Exodite worlds, and used to use them for Maiden worlds - though we have little use for them nowadays since we prefer to remain mobile on our craftworlds. Still, with the introduction of our wraithbone nano-virus we could reduce Terra to a lifeless moon as the accompaniment to a four-course meal. That prospect bores me though, and Khaine would roll his eyes at us - for our unsporting conduct. Of course the Mon'keigh perform Exterminatus too - but if the argument is that the Eldar lack weapon superiority - understand that has been our intention from your start - we cannot craft a god through galactic domination - thus we limit ourselves to only matching the lesser races in power: to provide them the illusion of competition. To the knowledge of my people, the zoanthrope that consumed Malan'tai was the only one known in existence to consume psychic energy rather than biomass: that it was then ignored and allowed to feed directly from an infinity circuit is embarassing, but not a reasonable metric of the ability of any other zoanthrope yet identified. Or far more likely, because they can't consume psychic energy the way they consume biomass - except in the mythology of that one specific story. Any story which ends with, "None Survived" should be viewed with ample skepticism as to how it is then known. The Eldar vanished, the craftworld vanished, the zoanthrope vanished. Terrifying; curious; suspicious. The point is that they are a beast. A beast so massive that they consume galaxies, but a beast none-the-less. I do not fear the malicious will of a bear, nor can I converse with a grasshopper - they have a certain drive - a compulsion to feed and reproduce and thrive: but they cannot qualify as an enemy of the Eldar if they cannot reflect upon their existence and their role upon the stage. I would not stand toe-to-toe with a Carnadon just as I would not wish to duel a Carnifex, or indeed a Tyranid Hive Fleet - but all are equally beasts in their mental capacity. Through our intelligence, through our peerless guile and deception - the Eldar will avoid, evade, and confuse the Tyranid galactic incursion just as we do not lay to rest at the den of the simple yet ferocious Carnadon. Thus, powerful as the Tyranids are - more powerful even than we Eldar who remain after The Fall - they are not my enemy - and to avoid their threat I need simply move to where they are not, and deceive their perception should they catch our scent. It is a simple thing for the Eldar to avoid the fate of the lesser sentient races - they cling to planets rich in biomass - they project their psychic power as a beacon into the warp - and they draw the Tyranids to themselves as a beast to the smell of blood, and the scent of fear. Yet to the Eldar, we watch behind our hunter's blind - we shall photograph your passing, Mon'keigh. Take comfort to know your empire's legacy will rest within a chapter, in the annals of our libraries. When that day comes, perhaps I shall even compose a limerick or two in your remembrance. Yet we Eldar shall dance ever on toward Ynnead, as we always do.
They truly are mastering the Path of Dying, aren't they? They may even give the Orks a run for their crown!
Says the Eldar Reigning champions of nearly killing their entire species off due to their own stupidity
Heed my words xeno unbelievers, I think the eldar still hold the universal record for dying. They Held sway over nearly the entire galaxy once, then they did some crazy shit and pooped out a horny god and a giant warprift. At the hight of the eldar empire there must have been quintillions of eldar, so quintillions of eldar must have died as they were consumed by the glorious prince of excess, which means that they should still hold the record.
