I wish i could agree, but the way i see it, if F2P users had a choice between Ork and Guard.. well... Personally i'd play Guard over some spore-spewing Ork. So, assuming a number of people think the way i do for one reason or another, that would really hurt the Ork numbers with their F2P option.
Whos to say you get the option for both? I think they should only keep 4 races per battlefield and have the option to change them (with us helping to choose). People will get tired of the races eventually, so why not retire them and have new armies including new horde F2P races? People will come to miss the other races and will be more willing to play them when they come back on another battle
Good idea, but limiting a battlefield to four races could become a hassle for those that may just want to stay there with their one race, it would also stop the idea of a four way battle being party crashed by another spicing up the battles. what i think is that if you could just do just keep them both F2P but lock one race if it becomes too one sided and unlock it when its no longer a problem, then again that is IF i becomes a problem, i think there are probably many people who would not mind being a ork.
True and people will always have that one race that is their favorite but on the flip side of that, having more then four will start to dilute the population on the game and you wont have as large scale battles. Plus keep in mind that they do have NPC (Tryanids right now) to keep things from getting too boring lol. Remember the goal is to have a winner and that makes the others losers, will be harder to do the more races that are involved. Unless you can kill off races during the Campain and then the people who did play those races then have to play another? Your idea definately has merrit thought it would become more work for the Mods to keep an eye on. Balancing out two F2P races i could see being quite the hassle, and if you make it random which you get then you upset those die hard ork and IG fans. A rotation is the best way i think of for keeping it fair.
One way to stop there from being too many races in one campaign, would be to have many campaigns running at the same time and make it so that you can remove other races from the battlefield through force e.g. taking all that races bases there, to stop a race from having nowhere to go in the campaigns i'm guessing they would have a home base from which they can move out from after a set period allowing a mass rush to occur at new campaigns and as a result a massive battle. keeping everything stable would be the hard part though, your idea would work if its how you say and then we could just fight somewhere else. what i would love to see if a war going on, one race is smashing everything and then because they did not pay attention a tyranid assault occurring from their inside causing mass chaos and panic.
The more we talk about it the more i like the idea of there being a few races that you can take out of the game by force like you said. The difficulty i think of with this is how people would grumble when their favorite is killed off, particularly if you have 6+ races and yours dies off early into a 3 month campain and you have to wait till the new planet. Haha and on top of Tyranid i also heard the enviroment will cause some problems too, natural disastors that sweapt in and damage your fortifications just before a massive ork push or the like. I also like the idea of random events. Playing as SM, oh you remember that town that was secured within the first month of the campain? Chaos got in and insidiouly took control, completely changing the face of the battlefield as you try and rush to secure land taken and supply lines, while still being pressured by Orks and Eldar
