The Glimmer of hope is what motivates me. So far, everything looks great, the communication is what the community needs and often missing when other companies have tried to launch beloved IP's. One thing I do have high hopes for in EC are the PVE elements. These will help keep the game fresh and interesting. We all know there is war in 40k, but there is also a wealth of Lore, and some of these extra elements will really help create the immersive feel I enjoy in a game. Cheers for all of the great work so far. Keep it up! we want more!
What the first guy said. In addition: The potential of this game. 40K is a massive IP with huge potential. If done correctly, this game could endure for generations, only adapting the game feel and mechanics as the tech improves. So, I am in it for what the first guy said and the HOPE that the potential of this IP can reach. I imagine playing and turning the heads of the skeptics. Having fun with friends in different areas, campaigns and continents. Dealing with different races and people (real people). Even the potential to go to other planets for further campaigns in a story which will be shaped by the outcomes of months, if not years, of PvP play through all updates. Being able to be a part of that story, with friends (and knowing a little something about 40k) is what will get me on board. Plus, what the first guy said...
Whenever I want to get interested in 40k I look at DoW2 casted by Indrid Casts on youtube. One of the few things keeping my pulse beating for 40k outside of the tabletop and books. Spacemarine, and multiplayer were one of the few things that got my heart fluttering, again, but unfortunately P2P networking is the bane of my spoiled dedicated servers heart.
Seeing that is a back and forth on communication from the Dev team and the fans. Most importantly though it's not just an acknowledgment of what the masses are saying, but also concret displays that community feedback is being incorporated into development. On the simplest level things like community voted polls that will decide what will be done (not saying it's the best way to do things though). If you show that you, the devs, care than we the community will also care.
What made me sign up and put money into EC? I like shooters I like combined arms I like an open, persistent world I like multiplayer I like 40k I heard of the project, lost track of it and when a mate of mine stumbled over EC in autumn I started paying attention again. What impresses me a lot is the intense interaction with the founders in the forums and the live streams as well as the business model. I liked what I saw, I'm in.
