It's not an endemic unique to the LSM. Regardless of faction, there seems to be a mindset that 1) Rambo wins games and 2) firing into a melee with full auto, regardless of how much of the enemy is visible is okay.
The Bolter is really fine compared to the Shoota, the DA's SC needs a little sumthin sumthin but it isn't too far off to be a super grade A problem though. The Apo, compared to a Tac, is a bit too strong because it steps on the Tac's toes pretty heavily. Compared to other supports though, I'd rather bring the other supports up to the same level. Perhaps not combat-wise, but definitely "support" wise. As for what LSM need, we just plain ole need better tools to handle newbies. A Voip system with a proper UI and channels (prox, squad, commander, all), a center "zone" like the garrison as a lobby so we can recruit/train/talk to newbies, a freaking better tutorial system than random skulls laying around, better guild systems with an in-game friend's list instead of steam and such, better dueling arena's and layouts in the garrison, etc etc. Better logistical stuff like that, would go a long way towards herding the cats as it were.
Story time: I just played a fortress defense. We won, but not before I got a full picture of just how bad SMs can play. Playing the Apothecary, defending the mid of the final point. I get downed mid field and crawl all the way to right side. There are four guys with heavy bolters there unloading. I crawl all the way over to them, crawl around them while they just ignore me and continue to fire. Four guys, zero fucks given. Not even locked to a rail, just walking around in circles in the middle of a stairwell like idiots. A full 20 seconds of bleeding out and I still can't get a teammate to give a shit. And then, to add insult to injury, another teammate from much further back in the room, shooting into his own team members, fills me full of bolts while I'm on the ground and finishes me off. I don't know what he was shooting at, there were literally no enemies in the line of fire he stitched across me and the ground. He'd proceed to do the same thing to me again later. This is why Space Marine players by and large fucking suck. They're ignorant. They're greedy. Some of them probably have 100 hours and they will still happily unload on their own teammates just to get one measly fucking kill. They'll ignore downed teammates even when saving lives is literally the key to fucking victory. They're essentially no better than when they started the game. My own team probably cost itself 1/3rd of its own tickers just by sheer stupidity, greed and ignorance in that match. In another team later I'd watch tank drivers cripple our ability to get vehicles in by blocking the fortress gate, in the last two minute of the assault, despite others begging them in chat to move. And this is what I don't see in other factions, is the sheer naked self-interest and "I don't give a fuck about you brother" mentality that means if a Space Marine pub team actually works together, it's probably completely by happen stance. Every faction has its blind, self-centered asshats, sure. But SM seems to stack them 10 deep per match. It's enough to make the Emperor's bones weep blood, that's how bad they are. Christ I wish I could sign up for clan stacks. A Space Marine team that actually knows what they're doing and works together, that puts winning as a team above their personal score, is a thing of ruthless beauty to see.
I had a match like that as well. Playing the wolfe priest and than there was this heavy bolter dude who kept team killing everyone. Even long after the enemy was taken care of they would still go on and team kill down members who could of still easily have been saved. Like this one who was still down and no enemies in slight, was running towards him to go and heal the down member, only bang bang. He finish off his own team mate. I was down once and they were the only one around and rather than helping me back up, bang bang. He just finish me off. I have no idea how mant tickets he wasted but it must of been a fair few. Last i check there is no reward for killing your own team mates, so i have no idea why the heck they did it.
What LSM really need? Players with some actual cognitive functions and the ability to work together rather than act like Amoebas from the pre-Jurassic period with bolters.... Tried to play LSM again yesterday after a long time, attacking on Zedek. We lost at A. Cant remember the last time thats happened for me on any faction. Despite being a full game and the enemy not really putting up a "great" defense, we lost at the easist point on the map due to the usual glue-eating shenanigans of your average spesh mureen...
I'm starting to wonder at the average age of players coming in now that its in F2p. And sadly this may be the problem. Is we're dealing with snotlings. I watched a new crew of guildies in garrison. No honor, just grief killing anyone there. This is the hate train in motion.
