You should start as a regular CSM and then get to choose allegiance to a chaos god, and then you would become a CSM with mark of nurgle for example, and depending on the path you choose, you could become something else, like a plague marine, raptor, havoc etc.
I'd like: Raptors Havocs Sorcerers Possessed and the "standard" chaos space marine that with allegiance to one god and lots of exp can specialize in noise marine or others less interesting version
It seems Imperial Marines are getting Tactical/Assault/Devastator Marines (per FAQ), so I'm guessing we'll get CSM/Raptor/Havoc as equivalents (just like it was in deathmatch versus mode in Relic's Space Marine game, which the Eternal Crusade developers listed as a major influence on this game in the first newsletter) - I hope so because I want to be a Raptor Havocs were pretty much confirmed in the Comic-con presentation anyway. Imperials are also confirmed as getting Apothecary (per FAQ) and Terminator (per Brent Ellison) and will start with 5 or so "normal" classes (per Brent Ellison) with Terminators probably costing resources to spawn (like MAX suits in Planetside 2, another game the devs listed as a major influence in the first EC newsletter). So I suspect we'll get Chosen Terminators, but are there even many Apothecaries left in the Traitor Legions, aside from Fabius Bile? I'm not sure I really see us as being as concerned about healing on the battlefield as Imperial Space Marines are. So what could our "support" class or combat medic equivalent be? A Chaos Marine Sorcerer? Or will that be saved for a Hero Class to keep it rare? Speaking of which, for Imperials the Chaplain has been confirmed as an advanced "Hero Class" (per Brent Ellison) - they will be limited in number in each battle area, with benefits for teammates that won't stack if multiple Chaplains are present. I wouldn't be shocked to see Imperials getting Librarians, Techmarines and Dreadnoughts as other unlockable Hero Classes too. So our Chaos equivalent Hero Classes would probably be things like Sorcerers, Dark Apostles (for Word Bearers anyway), maybe even Obliterators and Possessed Marines - powerful, but rare units - the kind of things that end up as HQ, Elite or Heavy Support choices in tabletop 40k. With it looking like we'll be playing as Chaos Undivided Legions (I'm guessing so that each player can make a Mark of Chaos choice separate to their Legion choice), my main question would be how "cult marines" will fit in, if at all. I can't see a Thousand Sons Rubricae being playable, just because if they stick to lore it would suck having your Rubricae character go completely inactive just because your Sorcerer buddy walked too far away from you - but Berzerkers and Plague Marines, sure, and it's not like you even have to be a World Eater or Death Guard to become one of those - Noise Marines I'm not sure (though it's not like the Emperor's Children really function as a Legion anymore in 40K, so they could potentially hang out with any Legion's warbands). What would be awesome is if Berzerker, Plague Marine, Noise Marine and maybe some kind of sorcerous champion of Tzeentch (to get around the Rubricae issues) were available as either our "instead of Apothecary" support choice of class (with the type you get depending on which Mark of Chaos you picked) to make sure they were fairly commonly seen and not as rare as Hero Classes, or perhaps make them just a later upgrade to the basic Chaos Space Marine class (again depending which Mark of Chaos you pick) - so you could replace your CSM class with your favourite type of cult marine. I could see it being hard to balance though - thematic choices aside, won't most people just go Plague Marine for extra survivability? - that's usually so important in FPSs when available. I'd feel pressure to make that choice if it gave gameplay advantage, even if it made my character bloated and putrescent, and I say that as someone who doesn't like Nurgle at all (Tzeentch ftw!).
Dark Apostles are Word Bearers only though, so I can't see that being a basic class, but as a Hero Class, sure.
Let us face it, this is a must. A must like a Warsmith. If not included into the original release, I am sure they will add a few patches later.
What I hope for the most (this isn't really class-related) is for Space Marines to be able to defect to Chaos. That would be a great game-mechanic. Other than that, Plague Marines or Berserkers.
I hope it will be possible to play as cultist. Cultists like the Blood Pact or The Sons of Sek? To play some kind of Chaos Marine sounds really good, but you already know this Form Warhammer 40k: Space Marine. And iam a fan of cultists^^ So I looking forward for this
