Honestly? I expect things to keep going downhill as they are now. We're a week from "launch", which is "just a flick of the switch, no big deal" according to the devs yet the game is still far from having even the basics done. Worse even is the current focus on the "loot boxes" as the seemingly primary source of precious gubbins like mods, which could be interpreted as the first stage towards an inevitable cash store. If the above paragraph didn't clue you in, I'm a pessimist/realist (same thing, really). Helps to have a +1 disappointment save when it comes to 40k games.
Dumpster-fire. The game is not worthy of being launched. Yeah, yeah, let's wait for patch 24... I can't even create/save any Wolf Priest loadouts because of some fucking Apothecary legs? Uh-huh? Then there's the issue of the garrison just being a boring place to go to AND exit again. "Hub-and spoke" my arse. We can't edit loadouts while in the garrison, we can't queue for match while in the garrison, we don't spawn back into the garrison after matches. Fire support classes ALL lack their fucking pistols. Even the class descriptions of the [Space Wolf] Blood Claws and Skyclaws are wrong and that's just fucking text. Not even programming, just plain text that isn't even lore-accurate. And all this is just nitpicking around the edges. Don't get me started on client stability, performance, UI issues, general gameplay clunkyness, lack of immersion ET-fucking-C. Fuck this shit. Yeah, I'm drunk and I'm damn glad I spent the day out drinking with my mates, far far away from my computer and this disappointment of a game. Ergh, what the fuck... Yeah, I'll stick to the game, I've spent as much on it as on a good night out on the toon and I'll keep testing it, but I will never, NEVER give it false praise. ANGER. RAAAH. *opens a can of beer to sooth his rage* glug-glug-glug, this beer tastes of piss, BUT AT LEAST IT DELIVERS, UNLIKE THIS GAME.
I feel bad for Valrak, he's the one gifted me the game out of sheer generosity. So in a way I want the game to succeed, even though I don't like multiplayer games and my current rig prevents me from testing anything beyond the Garrison.
Sadly, If publishers need/want the game to be launched on date, means they no longer are interested on supporting the game on the development on the future, that its what launch means or them... "move to other works" The following 6 months we are not going to get more than the 50% of what we had this year... probably not even a 25% so 4 me its a problem. Maybe the patch 24 will be a fucking miracle, or I'm wrong and this team its more dedicated than the 95% of the current developments and will be years behind the game... but I dont expect to suddenly see bigger quality on things in the game, I expect that they rather will simply giving the minimum plausible until game die or its nonprofitable.
This. Some ppl still don't get it and think that after the 'launch' the real development will start. It won't, it will be the beginning of the end. One or two DLCs if we're lucky and bye bye -'off to look for new challenges'.
I believe they're doing a great job. They're deploying daily patches to make it as best as possible for launch, and given their lastest update on Steam, they are already working on post-launch features such as Terminators. I'm not saying the game is in perfect state right now: there are important technical and balance issues yet to be solved. However, they are working day and night to have them solved, and the game feels much better than a few months ago, when I could barely play at all. So yeah, I'm quite confident they will release something very nice, and that they will manage to keep supporting and updating it after launch. Personally I'm quite excited to see the future of this game!
I'm sticking around for a while post launch just to see how the die hard fanatics get hit in the face by reality and the no doubt weird shit they will pull before inevitably accept reality. Denial..anger...bargaining....it will be as glorious as it will be interesting. I WILL get entertainment for my 35 euros one way or another.
