I think the model they have chosen should work, If you don't want to play orks boyz just buy the dude you wanna play and be done with it, I plan to buy Chaos right off the bat and roll anyone and anything in my way.... I also do like Buy 2 Play with Micro-Transactions (NO ingame Powers), I know they can make a killing off cosmetics alone to keep the game going pets mounts ect....
Though I dont particularly like the concept of microtransactions I understand its potential to increase game development. Perhaps look at other similar MMOs and learn fron their success/failures?
Exactly. I would have spent that money if they didn't asked me to pay before I log in. I can assure you that.
Pouncey's story about WoW is similar to how much my wife and I spent on the game if not more. Although I don't sub any current games and play F2p or B2p ATM I would still support the idea of a sub in a B2p game with cash shop if they build the sub right. I glossed over this like 20 pages back but really do like the idea of subbing for this game to support them and reduce the work of picking and choosing ala carte items. Meaning the subscription should have incentive over the equivalent in purchasing power from the cash shop if I were to subscribe for 3, 6, 12 months at a time split across those months. The larger the increment you subscribe for the greater the incentive. A few simple incentives off the top of my head for subbing in a B2P game with Cash shop would be you get the following: Reduced pricing for expansions (standard digital downloads only) ^^ or if they really want to make subs nice give the "expansion" content for free if you sub continuously for X months straight. $5-$10 dollars in cash shop currency 10-25% bonus currency for subscribing based on the length of your subscription plan. Queue priority if there ends up being any for larger battles (Although Pikko tech may bypass this) Digital content: Soundtrack, Digital Magazine (Decent production value should be easy for a studio), concept art as its drafted, etc. These are nice to haves but won't make or break subs IMO Added community tools: Access to community statistics, character sheets, etc. through Sub Only items: Cruiser decor items, titles that scale for consecutive subs, sub only skins, etc. Subscriber only forum section with more/better access to community figures, devs, and guides. Access to test server for developing content. I am sure more can be tacked on there to make the subscription benefit the play for incentive, and to give Behaviour Interactive consistent revenue that they can plan around for development costs. Not to mention it will still leave the door wide open for those subscribers to buy more from the cash shop after they spend their monthly allotment...its a win-win IMO.
I do like the idea of the digital magazine, titles and decor awards for supporting the game and battle achievements But I think closed forum sections and community tools is a terrible idea We shouldn't divide people who pay less from those who pay more by diminishing their right to be a part of our community Elitism can make societies rot from inside and not in the way even Papa Nurgle approves of
my opinion is no one should be able to pay to get more powerful in a multiplayer game if you want to be stronger work for it its whats fair now say get a new set of shiny armor that looks awesome but has same stats of current armor that can be bought yeah go for it the ONLY things that should be bought ought to be standard dlc ( like new areas races campaigns ) and appearance dlc like new armor sets weapon skins etc etc DC universe has a thing where you set an appearance and every new armor and costume piece which add stats you get can be equipped but your appearance stays the same a similar system can be used here say a new bloodangels armor comes out and you want to use but want to keep the stats you have set the your stats to your current armor then switch to the new stuff keeping your previous stats
I really like keeping character appearance not tied down by any specific items, as long as you can still tell what type of items are indeed being used; I.E. You can wield a specific power axe, but your space marine can look like he is holding any power that axe you have.
If the intent is to incorporate some sort of cash shop system, I think actual money should be left out of it completely. I think a great alternative would be receiving a base sum of currency from missions, and to compliment that you could also sell items you've acquired throughout your career. I believe this system would be highly rewarding especially if coupled with a policy of: discovered (earned) items are always/ usually such and such amount more potent then bought items.
They will have micrtransaction for cosmetics, and they won't take it away. AND we are all fine with that. We WANT to support the developers behind a good game (if it now becomes a good game.)
