Okay, I think you are talking about how each faction group will have different equivalent stats and how each dreadnought option will have different equivalent stats, and then why one is pay-to-win when the other is not.

For myself, it is not a matter of how they are introduced, but a matter of non-like terms. Imagine for example:
An orange tree is the game mechanics.
Two branches on the tree are factions.
The oranges on those branches are characters.
One branch gets better sunlight and another has better wind protection, but each branches' oranges are similar.
Any two oranges on either branch are similar and both taste good.
So far, this shows how the game should be designed to balance between factions.
Now imagine a gardener who helps the oranges grow, but only the ones he can reach from the ground.
Perhaps both branches or only one of the branches carry some oranges within the gardener's reach.
The oranges the gardener helps are more likely to taste better than they would otherwise.
Now this shows how players benefit from exclusive character build options like Rogue Trader Dreadnoughts.
Next, suddenly a third tree branch bears orange fruit.
This new branch has some advantage/disadvantage, and it's oranges are similar to the other branches' oranges.
Perhaps some of those new oranges are within the gardeners reach.
Again, the oranges the gardener helps are more likely to taste better.
This shows a new faction expansion and how it's players benefit from exclusive character options.

As far as the tree is concerned, any orange is just as good as any other after all things are considered, e.g. seeds, sweetness, etc. Each faction may be exclusive to one another, but the game is designed so that each faction is still no better than the others, even if they are have different stats. Then comes along this gardener; he can only reach some oranges, and of those, some are able to benefit from his care more than others. What could the tree possibly do to keep those oranges just as tasty as the others? The game mechanics allow exclusive factions to be balanced, but it can't balance the gardener.

If that didn't help, this is another way to explain it: character faction is not a character build option, it is a player option; it doesn't expand a character's power, it redefines it. When you buy an exclusive character build option, it is pay-to-win because even though it might be similar to a generic option, the differences become more powerful than otherwise because of the rest of your character build options. However, when you buy an exclusive character faction option, it is not pay-to-win because the stats are similar to every other faction, and your character build options can't make the faction stats any more powerful than any other faction's stats could be made more powerful with a character's build options.

Choosing an exclusive faction is not adding to a character build option pool, it is climbing out of that pool and diving into a different pool (which happens to be a different shape, but has the same volume).

Exactly, it is the character build choices which determine a character's potential power.
About expansions' content, I think that is what this thread is asking: What content should be sold?

That is why i am done, its nitpicking semantics.

If the dread was in the game, nobody would care, it would be just as killable as any other dread but move slightly faster with few percentages, races will still have different stats, nobody is going to give a crap if they are slightly different, and if they do then that is seriously low.

Yet people will cry out pw2 at such a small and minor thing, and when tau has good range and kills good at its niche people will cry out, you paid for a race that is better p2w, p2w that, p2w this.

Fucker looks a lot more shinier then me, p2w that too.

At this point, my wallet is loaded, bring on the cash shop, as long as it is not guns and stuff at 50% stronger i am then fine with it all.

Do you play Planetside 2 or Tribes: Ascend?

I ask because if you did you probably wouldn't make a comment like that. Be careful what you wish for.

You're right that this conversation has boiled down to semantics. I think we've all expressed and extrapolated our opinion numerous times; all that is left is to see what Behaviour Interactive decides on, and to see how they implement their version of a cash-shop. Fingers crossed. Let's hope they don't cock it up, because for many of us it's a deal breaker.

Hey guys, check out what I found:

    It even has a DoW2 picture @ 5:46:D
    Interesting?

That was actually pretty interesting. It doesn't really all translate to EC exactly, but it was good stuff. The notes about making sure everything that can be bought with money, can also be bought with in-game earned currency, albeit at a vastly steeper price, is really somethign to look at. If that is done, no one can really say the game is P2W, no matter what things are available (to a point), especially side-grade and "different but equal" items, since even without any cash it would still be possible for a player to acquire them. Making such things tradable between players, would also be good. Maybe not everything, but especially those "limited deal rogue trader" things, as taht will then create a market from speculators as well. :)

Dont care let them bring it on, tribes ascend will die eventually because they have discontinued content, Ps2, well its not dying so i guess their cash shop is working to say the least.

And i am tired of hearing opinions this and that, really tired so you have your own views i have mine, now i am bailing out.

I'm not sure if anyone mention these yet (don't wanna read over 600 post >_> lol) but I personally like the B2P with Micro-transaction Model Because...

    1. We pay them once for the game like you normally would for a console/pc game? I mean $50-$70 bucks for a game.. That seems fair.. right? we gotta pay for there hard work labour xD

    2. We don't gotta worry about Subs-fee if you stop playing for awhile and wants to come back!

    3. Micro-transaction, I would personally prefer if most of it were cosmetic/skin item so people don't feel force on having to buy Gems/Gold or whatever they well be called unless they want there character to be unequal or unique (Which I'm sure no one wants there character to be the same as everyone, unless they're making a squad? lol) and this is a Win-Win for players and the Dev since they well be getting income regularly to feed there family and update the game :D Yay?

Oh and one more thing.. I saw somewhere at the beginning of this forum someone said that it should be F2P with Micro-trans, so it opens more windows and opportunity for people, kids who can't afford it to play/try this game or something like that... well I don't think It's a bad idea However... but are kids even supposed to be playing a game like this? that's suppose 2 have alot of Blood,Gore,Violence more blood and more gore and some more blood and skull More Blood for the Blood God!!! Skull for the Skull Thron- Ahem you get the point... but yeah not trying to be selfish but shouldn't it be mostly be teen and adults playing this anyway? so.. a couple bucks of your pockets shouldn't hurt and if you Really can't afford it then stop reading this and go get a job >_> jks...
