    MOBA = MMO nah.

My question remains unanswered because you know as much as i do, for an MMO everyone would love only cosmetics, its perfection i would love it as well and so would everyone else but is it feasible? i will buy the game and "MAYBE" buy a few cosmetic items.

We can not assume or guess what the playerbase will do its only our guessed opinions, it will work from the start of course revenue will come in, but then again.

If i have bought my cosmetical items will i buy more once i have completed my kick ass look? i might say stop, some may want it all.

Yet the road of cosmetics only is an unbalanced one, some days the revenue might be great, and in others it may fall into a stale decline, and if it remains too long in a decline with no new revenue, we might as well have gone with P2P for that matter and kept it alive.

MMO´s dont survive on cosmetics alone, especially f2p ones, unless they can make it more welcoming like hundreds of options yet every option is 1 dollar or something, large variety a lot of options and customizations for a cheap price, it makes me not even care if i spent a few dollars here and there, but in the long run i spent quite a lot of cash when you put it together.

But if they spit out helmets at 30 dollars a piece, yea game over man.

  2. Please, change the subject of the thread, because it makes you think that the poll is about what do you think is pay 2 win, and not what service you prefer.

For myself, once the Tyranid playable expansion hits they could have hundreds of my dollars.
I think this applies to many players regarding their own cosmetic preferences.

And honestly, I wouldn't mind a subscription based game if it helps them support the game.
But I know that not everybody would fly with that. I think some compromise could be to allow those players who really want to support the game development some sort of subscription with relevant perks without pay-to-win.

Perhaps allowing players to quote payment/donate for specific content development, and make it like a voting system so players can vote with their money what development should be prioritized/funded.
I don't know if anything like this is designed elsewhere for an example, but maybe some iteration of this could allow players to buy-and-play while others can also buy-and-play-and-support.

Lastly, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they said something about producing expansions quarterly; that would also support cosmetic revenue.

  4. It is true that cosmetics maybe won't be enough to keep things afloat, and I understand it. But, first, the game have a payment method at first, which is much more money in the average player than in a moba (probably). Second, cosmetics can be profitable if they are worthwile. If you see League of Legends progression, they have passed from a "multiple skins that only change the color of a char", to "few skins that have additional effects, maybe different voices, and different animations". I do not think the "execution" thing will work on his own, but packs of execution with different skinned weapons (like a power-sabre, power-greatsword instead of powerfist, etc...), special effects such as explosions when shooting, or flaming eyes, mutations, and the like, if are keep reasonable in the 40k lore, can work perfectly. Packs like: troop pack, X pauldrons, X swords, X executions, can be sent to X players, with an additional special flag that can be traded between those players, exploiting the troops and chapter concept, that could work perfectly.

I think it has been made really clearly that Tyranids won't be playable. It makes no sense, they work by the hive mind, there are few creatures in a tyranid army that can work individually, AND, tyranids will be used for balance between factions: having a tyranid factions will make less sense when they need to be raided by more tyranids.

I'm not sure if I understood your idea exactly, but if you are paying for statistical/tactical advantage, then I am opposed.

I could argue the point, but I don't really want to here. Frankly, I've yet to see any valid argument for never including Tyranids as playable in expansions, save the game flopping.

Yes voice packs and the like are awesome and the more options the better for cosmetics its a given, the question is how will it be presented when its time to sell it, how welcoming will it be on price and looks.

Yea expansions will come as you say that is one revenue, but that one is a 1 time buy only though, well if they are interesting enough it will sell.

Ok that idea sounds pretty darn awesome, donating money, for example what if we see some cool stuff will be developed let us say Tau or Necron for next race in the upcoming 4 months, both will be added but if you like one race badly you could donate money let us say 5 bucks and vote for what you would want to see, that money is then converted into cash shop currency for use, or maybe the expansions of race can be purchased with ingame cash, buy in game currency for 20 bucks and with the currency you can buy a new race, almost like 5 bucks preordering something.

It is actually pretty brilliant of an idea were you get to vote on what should come next, revenue is gained through the votes every time its voting time for expansion or major stuff to be added it is a low amount of cash 5 bucks or so and the money wont go to waste as it is converted into cash shop currency for your use.

It is a pretty good idea actually Beast.

Well, in my opinion the DOTA/TF2 model Valve is using could very well be applied to EC; that is, a lot of cheap items that aren't flashy and represent just a variation on the model (a different weapon, helmet, etc) and expensive items with special effects, animations, really well designed items, etc. There could be sets of items you can purchase individually. And to make it even better you can make those items craftable for in-game money or from random drops.

Yea i wrote that in the quote, if its like that, a lot of options, a lot of variations, a lot of choices, different sections of choices, voice packs, executions, colours on eyes, and so and so forth a lot to choose from but everything is cheap when you buy per piece then yea it will easily be profitable and sustainable, in my opinion its like walmart everything is so damn cheap you want to buy everything.

Its like paying a mini sub but with the though of i am not wasting my money, i still get to use it, i am not thinking "i pay 15 bucks a month i most play everyday to get my moneys worth", but i get to vote and impact on something i find interesting, and i get to buy some nice things from the shop as well, and its only 5 bucks why not? heck one could make it even a bonus cash shop money gain during those times, you give 5 bucks you get instead of 20 currency for it but another 5 cash currency, sort of a promotional thing.

Its a good steady flow of income, one could do it once a month even, but then again it is up to the Bhvr staff if they can pull off major content patches so fast, or should this voting always be monthly even for minor things as well as major things? perhaps every 4 months on major votes like race or expansions you get for 5 bucks 30 cash shop currency instead of 20, and on minor things only 25?

It is pretty good of an idea there is a lot of room to think and brainstorm you found a loophole there that is not so bad if people paid up so their race could come first, those who did not vote for theirs will just have to wait for a bit longer but will get it eventually.

Well, i know people who have spent several hundred € on microcosmetics, so yeah, it IS profitable.
