What Is Combat Like In Eternal Crusade?

Discussion in 'Ask the Team' started by BrentEllison, Oct 19, 2013.

  1. Oh yes. My mistake. I was not clear enough. I meant windows. And i forgott they did not have windows. And as you said, in newsletter we got to see a gun mounted on Rhino (and they are going to make it work too, which is awesome). It would probably be unbalanced to be able steal BAWKSES... rhinos... but would be really fun to see later some people make remake video of that scene from Dawn Of War. :D

  3. ok deleted the offtopic stuff

if anyone need a quote of one of it for private conversation then let me know
the idea is nice but wont work since most mouses can adjust the speed on a 3rd party programm

    to be realistic.
there wont be any "real" warhammerr 40k combat at all.
"realistic" would be a well balanced squad of what ever race you have, using their races benefits to win the game.

okok i have to admid, as orc it sould be fine.
get 30 friends and just get dat steamroll going BOYZ!

    but what about space marines?
they are supposed to be the - by far - strongest characters, which only occur in relatively low numbers
and they make up this flaw by pure tactical deployment and they act as a single man.
so back to realistical fighting scenes:
you will have some casual gamer, that is more intersted in the story than sth else facing an orc raid.
and this guy is supposed to use "perfect" tactical decisions and pure aiming skillz to turn the tide of battle into his favour? not gonna happen.
this wouldnt be fun at all.

i dont want to be toooooo negative, but i dont see this vision work in "just another MMORPG".

what i could see very well work is a sort of open world battlefield similar to the one in planetside 2
with 4 completely different races working on the X continents of a whole world.
in this case you could bring the special sub-races into play very well,
as e.g. the iron hands could excell on siege weapons and ultramarines working on serious tactical backbone for the charging dark angels army ;)
i know that the trailer only shows a very very early version of the game, but it still looks very much as a thrid person shooter with mixed in melee combat. dont get me wrong: but thats not warhammer 40k.
you dont play normal men, you are supposed to play ~200 year old genehanced super soliders,
wich likely fought in as many wars and battles.

as a developer this also has a very interesting point:
if you have sth like a 99% set up world, in wich you dont have to change very much all the time,
you can work on the gameplay.
every warhammer game lacks one of the following 2 things:
eighter they have a gameplay, that clearly wasnt ready as the game was released,
or no one actually knew this game is about to be released because there was no promotion at all.

what every warhammer game lacks is: dev support after the release.

  5. Well its not abot to be released since they allready have been out saying it is to be released in late 2015
  6. why is tps with melee combat not warhammer 40k?
I think this is the perfect setting for w40k

and why is a fight of spacemarines so much different then of humans?
they are faster and stronger and smarter
but the thing is the same, slaughter your enemies with your weapons
  7. You know... this IS what is targeted...

well i think technically its the same, but does a veteran of 100 or more battles
fight like a greenhorn? i dont think so.
i like to see dynamic movement out of my character if i get hit and sth,
which will make those battles epic.

in addition: if i get hit on the left shoulder, the whole body turns left,
which should hame my ainimg turn left too. this way, you have influence on the enemy other than
    shooting him first.

i didnt read sth like this for now.

the levels also need to be balanced out VERY well, to provide enough cover and open fields, depending on the character you play. maybe even cover zones, like you have them in dawn of war 2?
this is sth i dont read here.
  9. The game looks fine, add some nice effects and you will get the look you want. Tps with melee? Have you seen THQ's space marine? Amazing
