A couple of things BE can learn from PS2: The whole emphasis on tanks/air support dominating the battlefield. And how easily accessible they were. DO NOT go this route please. The whole p2w aspect. I mean yea, you could farm for those top-tier weapons, but buying it gave you such an advantage.. Making 1 or 2 weapons the best at each category..hmm this one is hard to balance, because players will always find the most efficient weapons for each situation, but perhaps BE could give bonuses/upgrades for starter weapons so that when you use it for a certain period of time it won't feel useless the higher you level. Like previous poster said, no actual reason to fight for objectives other than to fight haha. In Eternal Crusade give us a reason to take this objective or that base. It would be so awesome if like their was like a mini cgi scene briefing before you entered the battlefield, and npc's would be like, "you must capture this base and destroy the anti-air guns because their blocking our supply ships from entering orbit. Good luck soldier and may the Emporor protect." Make us feel we're part of the story.
Several default or low cost ( in certs) weapons are considered to be very good if not the best in their category. Paying does give an advantage but less than the one given by accrued experience.
