could ya link the article saying beta got pushed back? I seem to have missed this news and I think most people here are for the community... if you don't want to be here that's fine :X dark millennium got pretty cancelled though (couldn't find a partnership to make it an mmo (yeah I don't have a link to the article but with enough searching around you might be able to find it))
I was tempted to be that cynical when I first wrote this thread, but I thought better of it considering how entitled I'd sound actually saying it. As any good relationship, time, patience, and understanding prove its worth. I feel that the devs have been incredibly open without raising the hype they could not deliver in WAR. We should be excited about this game, and cynical about the pitfalls its predecessors have fallen into, but if we're basing our entire outlook on Pre-Alpha footage - where most devs wouldn't dare share it in the first place - we've become too demanding of a team that has taken on a monumental challenge of: A. Designing the Game. B. Remaining Transparent Enough to hold our attention but not give away secrets to projects like.. let's say Blizzard's Titan, C. Responding, talking, filming, and playing with fans like us on a daily basis a full 2 years before the game even comes out. Tell me, what other studio IN THE WORLD, does that? We probably can't even use a full hand to count them.
I am sorry you feel this way man, but from what I could tell Dark Millenium had some serious issues. Also the game is in Pre-alpha stage. Concept and design work. Not too much to show and the fact that they ARE going to show us something is incredibly generous. Keep up the faith brother! It will be worth the wait.
They never promised anything. Anything they said always came with the disclaimer that it's either a) too early in development or b) still need to talk to the other team members to see if its possible. I'm sorry man, but it sounds like you were incredibly naive about the entire thing. See above From what one game designer said about DMO, it was a disaster (of course, caveat and salt abound, because AFAIK the person's identity was never truly verified, even if he did have a lot of pics and whatnot) internally. The studio had no idea what they were doing because of the financial situation of their parent, THQ. DMO really didn't have a ton more work put into it per se. Again, anything they've 'promised' seems to be perceived so on your part even though most if not all interviews were either talked down a short while later (usually with what Miguel said, no offense to him, but he had to dial some stuff down) or heavily caveated.
all you people who are saying thx Miguel should also thank the team behind him they are doing great work to be almost ready to show gameplay 2 years before release
no but almost 5 month are passed from the first time they say "2 years". The last info from the mmorpg.com ama are closed beta early 2015, open beta late 2015(personally when a game it's in open beta i don't care when the true release date is).
DUST 514 & Dota 2 I only say Anyway just have patience ppl, we all are eager to see more but let's just wait till the end of the month... Though I am quite more excited about the Eldar newsletter next month! (wanna know if I get to play an Ulthwe or Biel'Tan Warp Spider or not!)
I just want to emphasize that you guys need to take your damned time--if you cant make a date, then don't push the game out the window even though it isn't ready. I'm willing to wait if that means it will be a better game.
