No idea. I've been gleaning my knowledge of WH40k lore for the past several years from WH40k forums and occasionally fansites, as I don't enjoy reading books anymore. You're one of the first to actually question things I say. Edit: However, you may have noticed that Howling Banshee miniatures universally have boobs and all the other Aspect Warriors don't, while Guardians are an 80/20 split between male and female. Also that Eldar wear bodysuit armor... It's pretty much as snug as it's gonna get. Edit again: However, a quick check on Lexicanum reveals nothing of relevance to this probably false tidbit, so I'm never gonna mention it again. Really wish people would stop telling me things that aren't true about the lore and history of things in general.
Yeah, I must admit I'm a bit baffled by your statement that Eldar armour isn't tight. It's as tight as they come. I'm fairly sure there's nothing to stop there being male Banshees or female Dragons, they're just not common because the miniatures are female and male respectively. In fact, all the miniatures apart from Banshees and maybe one Farseer model are male, but there you are. Patriarchy and all that.
In my research, I have determined that Eldar Male and Female warriors all are allowed to participate equally in all shrines. In Practice, Females heavily drift towards Banshees and Seers while the other shrines are Male dominated. This is represented in the Tabletop game by those specific models being female or male respectively. Eldar armor is a combination of plates and mesh, thus flexing to fit the form of the Eldar wearing the armor and to not encumber their movements. Additionally, some Craftworlds have more female warriors than others and vice-versa. Some gamers have taken to modding their models with other gender models so they are more balanced. Excerpts from Craftworlds Codex: 1. Craftworld Iybraesil - "The craftworld has a disproportionately high female population to this day. In these dark times, the people of Iybraesil are driven to hunt for crone worlds, for they hope to secure not only the Tears of Isha, but also ancient technologies and doomsday artefacts with which to tip the balance of fate." 2. Howling Banshees - "The Howling Banshees are a predominately female Aspect, embodying Khaine’s speed, agility and terrifying presence." 3. Ancient Lore - "Such is the dark nature of the Eldar psyche that the Warrior Path draws most of them onto it at some point in their long lives. In aeons past, the Phoenix Lords taught the arts of war to both males and females, and as a result Eldar warriors come from either sex. As with many complex Paths, the Warrior Path is divided into several branches. Each of these is known as a Warrior Aspect, representing a different facet of the war god Khaine." Excerpt from my 1993 copy of Codex Imperialis: 1. Howling Banshees - "Most Howling Banshees are Female, although any Warrior Aspects can be male or female." Lastly, there are an unknown number of Eldar Craftworlds still at large in the Galaxy (not even by the Eldar themselves, the evacuation during the Fall was in such hurry and disarray). The ones played in the Tabletop and other games are simply the ones that have extensive encounters with Imperial forces in the time span in which the games take place. If we really wanted to, we could create our own new Craftworld colors and iconography and say that all the warriors are Female, while all the Males stay home and take care of the housework.
You are half right. - Religion was finally eradicated at the end of the Age of Strife (M29) when the Emperor gained control of Mankind. He decreed all religions destructive to Mankind and said there were no outward powerful entities to Worship. - Religion was re-introduced during/after the Horus Heresy (M31) and is enforced by the Ecclesiarchy (M32) as a means to fight against Daemonic corruption. The Ecclesiarchy is a joining of Political State and Religion into one entity, and they enforce the religious worship of the God-Emperor of all the civilians of the Imperium. They will actively police and kill people who do not follow the religion for fear of Chaos/Daemon infestation. - In the 40k games the Religion of worshiping the God-Emperor is a huge facet of all Imperial forces, and very much so of the Astartes. Weapons and Relics are simultaneously lethal killing instruments and prayer icons, much like a Crusader would venerate his Sword after it's been blessed by a Priest. http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Ecclesiarchy I'll stop with the History lessons now. Farewell!
Male armor is identical to female armor. Having boob plates is a fiction from people who don't understand how armor works. Boob plates are dangerous. Then again this is fantasy future land and anything goes
Yes boob plates are fiction with regards to medeval armour due to the fact that the leather padding underneath removes any outlining and allows the metal plate armour over the top to not require cusping. However there are a number of arguments as to why Eldar likely would have the breast outlines on their armour: 1) There armour consists of a skin tight mesh of wraithbone which perfectly fits the shape of the user. This is unlike any real world armour. 2) Eldar are absolutley obsessed with their bodies (As shown by the refusal of craftworld eldar to genetically enhance themselves) much like the ancient greeks, this is emulated by the possession of a chest piece which resembles the abs and pecs of the wearer. As a result one would expect female eldar to also emulate their own body form in such a manner. As you can see in the image below the female armour lacks the steryotypical male chest, in favour of a stereotypical female chest. Further supporting this idea. 3) Banshees in mythology are female. As a result the armour is designed to exaggerate female features (long hair and the presence of breast). I am particularly fond of this concept as I'm of the opinion that regardless of gender banshees should look female. (Disclaimer, while I agree that boob plates are impractical. Given the lore behind eldar and due to the fact that most of my female gaming friends like to be able to identify with the gender of their character, it makes sense for them to have boob plates. While most games such as WoW tend to oversexualize this feature, games such as dragon age inquisition with characters such as Cassandra perfectly understand how to make a character look badass and practically armoured, but still female.)
