They said a long time ago they wouldn't do that, but it would imo be the best option. The only problem with it would be the name, but since it wont show anyway it shouldn't cause a lot of troubles.
That's not very immersive for the MMO aspect of the game. Less so than changing Aspects five times a game.
MMO and RPG isn't the same thing, the later is something Eternal Crusade will lack a bit. The need to change character to "change gender" is fair enough, but it leaves you with one less character slot, so you need to buy a fifth one or ignore one faction. The fact that you need to level up two characters isn't appealing either, especially if they go with "one character can unlock everything". I guess you will also encounter a few problems if you wish to change to the class the other "gender" has, since you would need to exit the game to do that (leaving your squad I assume).
I don't see what the problem is, right here... Eldars have gender equality , and anyone can join any aspect they want, as long as they feel they can dedicate their lives to it at the moment. The only un-RPG thing is that you could actually switch between aspects in a game, but hey, a Tactical is suddenly turning into a Devastator, then to a JA and final to an Apothecary... About genders, Yes, we aren't used to see Female Scorpion Armor, or Female Dark Reaper Armor, or Male Banshee armor, but it's perfectly fine in the lore. ... Still don't get the problem here.
I don't think there really are any problems EDIT: Strangely enough there are now more people playing male than female Eldar, if we compare it to the older "What Gender at launch" thread. http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/eldar-gender-choice.51319/ Btw, the fact that we have Male Howling Banshees and Female Striking Scorpions are due to GW requesting it (according to an "old" main correspondence with Brent Ellison). bE also considered to make the "odd gender" be slightly rarer, but the community seemed to be opposed to this, so they changed it. EDIT2: The most likely cause of the change is this thread: http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/eldar-gender-choices.22022/, though I could be wrong.
It'd lack RPG elements even more if it was the other way. In any case, you don't need to have two separate characters in the first place, as the classes aren't gender locked, which would make it necessary. Someone may want to for RP purposes and choose to, in which case, yes they'll have to decide which faction to ignore* or buy another slot, but that's their choice. The good news is that if you do go to that extent you're forgetting that means that the progression for each of your characters will be limited to specific classes, which means you'll be able to specialize each of your characters more quickly as you won't need to spread out your upgrades as much. Given as leveling always gets slower the higher you get in games I think it will actually be quicker to create a "Level 5" Banshee character and a "Level 5" Striking Scorpion than it would be to have one "Level 10" Character that you split your progression between those two classes. (*)Though to be frank I don't think that someone who is RPing that hard with Eldar is likely to be playing much of the other factions anyways.
You are right on that, I think it is just me who both genders so my characters can be shiny as [intercourse] Anyhow, I can live without two Eldar characters.
