Its amazing how every Ork thread just de-rails from the topic that its about. True Orkish quality I must say.
you are dead wrong. ork boys and shoota boys are not at all on par with marines in range or melee combat. seriously. from reading this, your saying that nobs are on par with ork boys.
Definitely not in ranged, but a standard Ork Slugga boy can push out four strength 4 hits when charging, which if they survive a Marine's one attack, then they'll most likely win (although the tables turn if a Marine charges instead). Shootas trade up one attack for a better gun. No I said that if the rest of the Ork classes were non-Nobs, then judging by tabletop standards, they're about as good as their Marine equivalents. Lootas carry a heavy weapon on par with a Devastator's. Stormboys, whilst not as tough, can fly further than an Assault Marine. Mekboys are the only ones that can't be judged, as they fill a different function to an Apothecary.
first off that's tabletop. secondly, i'm--now that i think about it--compromising between the low power of tabletop marines, and the ridiculous power of imperial derpaganda marines. thus, taking into account more variables than you. and it is a SOLID FACT that a marine is a LOT stronger than an ork boy in armor. without armor, they are still easily stronger, but not quite so far ahead. nobs are stronger and FAR more durable than marines, but they are slower, not as smart, worse at shooting, and don't have the coordination and unity with each other that marines do. though, with 'ard armor, i can easily see an ork being just as durable/survivable as a marine with armor. the 'ard armor doesn't have as good protective abilities as power armor, but it's damn good--same 'tier' as storm trooper or aspect warrior armor. this, combined with the nobs superior durability, would make him as survivable as a marine. with bionics, the ork is above the "average" marine in durability/survivability... but i digress.
