Are you fighting so that we can rebuilt our lost civilization? Or, do you fight with the grim hope of getting the galaxy just a bit more ready for Ynnead? Personally I'm the latter. Our race will atone for its sins with its life, destroying the evil that we birthed. With my life I make the galaxy more ready by the smallest fraction, and with my death I join the others in building this crucible.
I am of both. I work towards ensuring Ynenead but at the same time I love the Eldar and don't want them to die, lol, even though we will be reborn. So basically I view it as do everything possible while staying alive and protecting the Craftworlds, as well as putting the hurt on our enemies until the end is near to Ynnead. The thing is, to keep all our spirits in the infinity circuit safe, which means keeping the Craftworlds safe, do we all have to commit suicide at a certain point to bring Ynnead? Because if we die out due to war then that suggests the Craftworlds have been destroyed due to war along with the souls in it's infinity circuit.
If i had an ounce of authority I'd do everything in my power to forge some form of defensive alliance between the imperium and every willing craftworld, as hard or nigh impossible it would be. With nearly every other faction out there bent on the total destruction of the universe it really is silly that these two would even consider warring against each other especially when the Eldar are basically on life support. It would take quite a few Eldar-tolerant inquisitors in the ordo xenos to even consider the notion I'd imagine.
I'm old school so I still remember the Harlequin's plot to use the Illuminati's attempt at rebirthing the Emperor to seize control of the Imperium and rule over humanity as the true master race. Shame about all these dang youngins and their "Ynnead this, Ynnead that".
Yeah I feel like there's really no reason for the Imperium to be fighting with the Eldar or Tau. It pointlessly provokes them every chance it even thinks it gets, despite the fact one has absolutely 0 interest in attacking Terra and the other has no way of getting there. Though I suppose they wouldn't be the Imperium if they weren't crazy racists gotta do what the skeleton in the chair says
I honestly don't think it would be that difficult and completely agree with that being their best coarse of action. Both have a personal vendetta against Chaos and really there is no reason they wouldn't ally considering as you said, everyone and their dog out there is out to obliterate the galaxy in one form or another. It only makes common sense for both sides to ally and it's actually surprising they wouldn't. The only reason it is the way it is, is that writers fiat to maintain constant war for all factions vs any other factions.
Loss is too familiar a companion; sorrow is too intimate a friend. I am no Seer, I shall leave the grand designs of fate and future to them, for what I have come to value most is the present. I fight for what love I have left in this existence. Once it is beyond the reach of harm, then and only then will I consider the future.
A Biel-Tan at heart. i'm all for rebuilding the Greatness of our empire. colonising every prime planet i come across. but will practice peaceful negotiation with the inhabitants there. then rule over them as benevolent rulers. will be ruthless if forced to. oops... that sounds like the Tau.
