Only Vets worth taking are JPA Vets. Only ones that ever have a chance at living and getting shit done for longer than 2 minutes. That being said I almost made it through an entire 15 min match on Torias on my 2 Vet Sorc lives. Missed it by like 2 min at the end.

Target practice. Unless you mean my own? Then I use them just like anything else and try to help turn the tide of battle with a slightly more durable cap class.
I have a las cannon veteran since my builds I use too much to restrict towards 2x a match, where this lets me have a 5th common build to switch between.
I like having the extra 400LP, it allows me to have the gear that I want on my normal troopers. It's no show stopper but it has come in handy many a time. I usually donate the points towards more armor for a bit more survivability and it has kept me alive a few times when in most cases I would have died.
I only use it when defending a stable position where we no longer need to push out. that gives me the most survival time and the most impact in the game.
