It's been 6 month since the release. Now Development team decided to launch F2P edition. Although Last week population record reached 3k, Now It dropped down back to below 800 average. It is clear F2p edition of Eternal Crusade is devestating. But I am committed to suggest and talk about what this game really need for both players and developers. The current state of Eternal Crusade (Almost there!... almost....) The game is acceptable and well made but there are key important issues that preventing developers to go forward even though they are trying to go forward... Let's take a look at bright side of current development first The Ongoing Improvement -Latency Issues - Recently, Devs have added server options for NA and EU! -Smooth Gameplay - getting better -Balance - Slow and still many problem but getting better. (Every game having balance issues and EC 's balance is not big surprise. This will keep changing so it's not a priority issue right now) Now let's take a look at Priorities to be fixed and added. Tutorial Revamp Current Garrison tutorial is poorly designed. Of course there are floating npc that tells you about what to do as specific classes. What I am saying is devs forgot to add explanation about objectives for three types of gamemodes (Point Controlling for bar filling or preventing, Capturing and defending points with limited tickets, Fortress) http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/playing-objective-lsm-important.63918/ Devs gotta redesign tutorial for f2p and new players so they could learn every key points before they jump into match. Squad Leader Banner Buff Indication - Banner buff give buff if you stay near the squad commander. But there are no indication nor effect showing that you are getting buff or not. Make a little indication (top of head or aoe effect) that you are getting buff by standing near your commander. This would encourage squad to group and play as team. Preparation Time - Current System just throwing people into battle, forcing them to fight without putting squad together. Instead of getting spawned as soon as game start, replace current countdown into preparation time. For more information Check out my suggestion to Team http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/preparation-time-to-assemble-your-squads.64159/ Unique Squad Systems - Current Squad System is nothing but a group that giving extra xp when group up. Since you can change squad anytime whenever you feel like, It is hard to organize your group and classes. (Squad Morale Broken......) Personally, I am still thinking about systems that could possibly assemble and systemize whole squads. Here is what I am thinking right now (Imperfect) Giving indication and buff for having specific classes in squad (4 to 5 JPA classes - dedicated JPA squad with indication) VOIP for squad commanders in platoon so theycould communicate to set up strategies. Anyway, These are suggestion about what EC really need to retain players and emphasize their unique game. I hope this benefit us both( devs and players) If you have any better ideas please leave a comment. Thank you. @Oveur @NoahWard @BedardThanU
I like what you're saying, but how is this different to the Top 10 Player priority list that they have that's across a wide selection of players?
Some of top 10 player priorities list are already resolved or improving. The priorities I am suggesting is to retain new players by teaching them and prevent pubstomping. Because most players don't really care about squad, people keep soloing and pubstomp happens.
All of the above are much needed. -"Squad based game play" is a myth. We can zerg just as easy with non squad mates as we can with squad mates. What makes the squad special? Squad based game play in EC is as minimal as one can imagine. BF1 and BF4 are miles ahead of EC as far as squad based game play. -Pre match set up time is needlessly rushed. This doesn't require testing and researching and guessing for the right fix. Simply give us time to choose loadouts, time to choose squads, time assign roles/classes within our own squad, then time to coordinate with other squads and formulate a battle strategy. Currently we're just funneled into a mess as fast as possible. There's really no excuse. -More time post match. Being slammed from one match into the next is a bit too stressful. Giving a Warparty time to decompress after one match(via longer post match time) before another match is needed. -Banner buffs and buffs/debuff indicators in general are very weak. We should have a mana bar/warp charge bar next to our character similar to the stamina bar.
What we need is squad-based and/or proximity VOIP. Platoon level stuff is getting too fancy and advanced for this game really. Simple would be fine. But it feels like so many features are so far away, and the EC team has been downsized....
The Top 10 Player Priority Thread Nathan has made is quite a clear shoutout from the Community on what they want to see improved, if they can work this one out, they would be in a pretty good state. Add to that a lot MOAR. More Maps, More cosmetics More Weapons More Spells / Powers / Support Gear More Wargear to allow for even more custom characters Elites / Warlords / Terminators More Squad-Play, to feel like a mini-guild and MUCH MOAR sense or incentive to play PvE
The UI needs a pass really, lots happened to the game but UI not seen as many improvements. Personally I think the crosshairs are very basic and could be a lot cooler, small buff icon to show when you are benefiting from being with your squad, friendly elite markers, better mini map there is a lot of room for raising the quality of the experience.
Agreed. QOL improvements are welcome but we also need more... of everything! Content must be expanded in every possible direction. More items, weapons and wargear on top. And more "wh40kesque" stuff like Dreadnought, Killacan, Daemons, Warp Spiders, Obliterators, Sorcerers with staves casting spells and moving on Tzeentch Discs and blah blah...
I always thought the "JPA" class for eldar would be the warpspider (With a teleport mechanic like the Reapers from overwatch, just faster) Can't wait for Warpspiders!
